WSEX: Official Monthly Thread: March. (#7 of 8.)

Owing to continuing demand, once more we have a central thread for questions, suggestions, complaints, and general discussion about WSEx.

Keeping everything in one thread helps everyone, so thank you for supporting the idea.

For reference, the previous thread, #6 of 8, is here.

How come people say it is rake free when it infact is 100% rake back? Yes it does make a difference. One can only wonder for how long also.

if you are semi-tight, 100% rakeback > rake free

and it also allows allows the fish to lose all their money and then be able to play the next week ... which is good for the site as well

stop being so pessimistic

srsly, I hate it when people split hairs over 100% rakeback V rake-free. The difference is so minimal that it isn't even worth discussing IMO.

Anyone know why the First Pay sign up page has been "taken down until further notice"?
I was thinking about putting some money into WSEX and I want to know more about this option to deposit/cash out with. Does it still work with WSEX? Any info on this matter would be appreciated.

I was getting the socket error, mentioned by Dex, last night. It prevented me from logging in but I could watch the tables. I waited a couple hours and it was working properly again.

I also get a strange sound issue where after playing for 30 min to an hour (don't pay close attention to the time) every new dealer text or player text line results in an annoying beep. I can get rid of it by shutting off the text, but I would rather not have to. Haven't played since yesterday's update so it could be fixed.

In my experience this bug only happens if you have the dealer:everything option clicked.

To temporarily rid yourself of the sound right click on the chat box and reselct an option. This makes the chat scroll to the bottom and fixes the beep.

This prolly doesn't go here, but if you could lower your min bet in the sports book from $10 to like $1 like pinnacle had, you would prolly get more of my action now that they no longer serve U.S. players. Not that I want to bet $1 but most of the time my sports bet is only $5 cause I suck at poker and at betting, so I can't afford much more then that.

1. When will there more be options for deposit and withdrawal?

2. Debit/ATM CARD WHEN?

3. Resizable windows

Re: WSEx: Official Monthly Thread: March. (#7 of 7.)

1. When i get the socket error I have to close wpx and reboot.

2. We really need an easy deposit option for US players. My omaha/8 games with their small player pools have literally died the last week or so. Give it a little time and it will probably do the same in holdem.

3. Again, please do some sort of advertising. Pay for it however you need to. A site with no marketing will die, regardless of rakeback.

Hello 2+2er's,

Socket errors, we had a firewall problem the other night. It should be resolved.

The auto post blind thing, they believe they have isolated the problem and they are addressing it.

First Pay has pulled out of gaming. It's completely dead.

Other debit card solutions are in the pipeline but I don't want to make any promises on dates. Please keep checking our cashier page for updates.

Pot Limit Omaha, I will make sure that gets moved up the priority list.

Heads up, I'll look into higher limits.

Sports minimums, no plans to lower our straight bet minimums. Our parlay minimum is $5.

Resizable windows, not exactly, but we have a smaller window option coming out in the next release.

We may have some interesting tournaments in the near future.

That's it for now. I'm on here everyday.

I'll often get the socket error message if I click the button to add more chips more than once. A lot of times, there's a delay between clicking and the window coming up, so I'll hit it again. Then, for the next 15-20 minutes, I'll have to deal with constant socket error messages; after that time period, however, it seems to work itself out and everything goes back to normal.

Can someone tell me the hourly rake at .5/1 6 max, 1/2 6 max and 1/2 fullring please

From my limited play it looks like about $3 at .5/1 6 max, $7 at 1/2 6 max and about $4 at 1/2 full ring. For those who have a lot of hands at these limits, is this about right?

Also I've noticed traffic has been up nicely the last 3 weeks at 1/2 and 2/4

RGL 03-03-2007 05:30 PM

Re: WSEx: Official Monthly Thread: March. (#7 of 7.)

Yes, that looks about right. 1/2 full ring may be a little high - more like $2.50 - 3.00 per hour.

This rate excludes the cracked aces promo right? Once I clear a PokerRoom bonus I'm moving 100% to WPX. 2 tables of 6 max at 1/2 and one of .5/1 is about $17 an hour PLUS the Cracked aces promo. For someone who plays 10,000 hands a month, they should get Aces about 45 times and let's say they get cracked 9 times (1 in 5)...that would be $225 for cracked aces alone.

at one HU table for each limit please, preferable two or three.

DarkForceRising 03-03-2007 07:13 PM

Re: WSEx: Official Monthly Thread: March. (#7 of 7.)

1/2 6 max is about a nickle per hand. 2/4 6 max is around a dime. Not sure about .5/1. This is assuming generally tight conditions, though. When the games get wild, and they often do, I've seen it reach almost twice that.

Whatever the case, it adds up fast. I can't fathom why the bonus whores and Absolute crowd have not jumped ship to WPX. Prohibiton of HUD's is a pathetic excuse. The games can be quite tough but it is usually only a temporary situation.

Schnieds once made a comment about his strategy that is especially applicable to the WPX games. He said that instead of focusing on a players HUD stats, he was more concerned with what the opponent's mood seemed like that particular session.

My own shortcomings as a player illustrate this. Although my stats might appear to be typically taggish, sometimes I get angry and tilt. Sometimes I get frustrated with a dry run of cards and start mixing it up in the wrong situations. Sometimes I look for excuses to put a player (that I know has me crushed) on a hand I can beat and I call down. Sometimes I am playing well and things are going smoothly and I decide to kick back, relax and let up on profitable stealing and isolation opportunities.

And sometimes I like to drink a few beers while playing 4 lightning-fast tables with a bunch of manics constantly check-raising me. (OK, most of the time. I am a recreational player.)

From what I have observed, it seems as though many of the other regulars at WPX share the same traits. For the player that has just a smidgen of extra focus, I don't see any reason why that player wouldn't find this site to be anything less than what Alobar once described as a 'juicy money orgy'.

Now for the real shocker. Due to 100% rakeback and the fact that actual fish really do play there, many of the players doing the stupid donkey bullsh*t I just descibed are still finishing up the week with a profit.

RGL 03-03-2007 07:50 PM

Re: WSEx: Official Monthly Thread: March. (#7 of 7.)

Dark,

Very nice post. Exactly my experience with reading the mood vs. the stats. It's a very aggressive site, and mood swings get tripped fairly often.

And most fish seem to play week after week because the rakeback gives them some lifeline each Monday.

One guy I recommended to the site is a moderate to fishy short-handed player at low limits. He is used to re-bankrolling a site with about $200 per week. He loves WPEX because the extra rakeback gives him extra dough in his bankroll to play more, hence building an even larger bankroll after his deposit.

He actually feels like a winner, even though he's losing at the same rate per week. He's getting more play per dollar and at the same time losing more money to other players per dollar deposited. Talk about a Win-Win!

If this site ever gets a player base growing, it could become a real fish trap with a fish never quite going broke. "I deposited $200 this week, same as last week, but now I've got $270 to start. And maybe I'll just play off the bonus and see what happens before depositing."

In any case, the site puts more money into the poker economy per dollar invested than any other by long run. No other site is even close to being in the race.

the quality of the 3/6 limit holdem games seems to be getting better. still mostly tags, but they're playing worse on the turn and river [or maybe I'm just playing better ]

still not a lot of games going on yet though. I agree that the concept of the rakeback fish trap has yet to be fully exploited.

a couple of requests:

1)tripledraw please. tripledraw is a huge action game that would appeal to sportsbettors and is all kinds of fun to play.

2)pull the client down from auto high-priority in the taskmanager. this actually seems to be slowing the whole thing down.

3)make the FPPs worth something. I still think that using them for sportsbetting discounts is the best avenue. I don't like playing big poker MTTs, and that doesnt help the sportsbook [profit center] out anyway. Just let me use some FPPs to move a line a little or to reduce the juice and I'm super happy.

----
games have been getting better. rakeback is always on time and documented. Just get me some more active deposit options for new players and we've got a real party.

Re: WSEx: Official Monthly Thread: March. (#7 of 7.)

Why must you keep calling it rake free? Rake is a term that doesn't mean anything to a fairly casual player, and you've already gotten the hardcore player audience as well as you are going to.
Why not say, "WPEX: Offering the biggest bonus of any poker site... and it never runs out." Since bonuses always work as a fuzzy version of rakeback, that's pretty honest, and you can always add in all the rakeback stuff later when they click on the banner. People like bonuses, but they don't really care about rake (50 cents out of a ten dollar pot? Who cares?). You really need to target a new audience.
You can obviously work on the specifics, but you need to kickstart your marketing.

I think it's recommended that user programs run as normal or above normal. Above normal would probably be better I would think.

Cool, I just realized that should be the case.

Wow, yesterday I averaged $45/table/hour in rakeback at 10/20 6-max. Lotsa action! Add in roughly $7/hour ev for the cracked aces promo and it was over $50/hour in bonus for a single table.

Yeah, I think WPEX sometimes causes minor interference when I'm streaming music. Maybe setting priority back a notch would help.

I know back in the day before the client set the priority up itself, I used to set it up to 'Above Normal' and that solved the software lag issues for me, so it'd probably be fine to do that for everyone.

It's actually a tremendous kludge that they even do this at all. There should be absolutely no reason for software of this nature to have to run at anything above Normal, so clearly there are significant inefficiencies. Improve the software instead of messing with the priority!
