Strange email I just got
I don't recall ever trying to sign up for click2pay, since that ship sailed before I had made the decision. Maybe I tried and was rejected shortyly after they stopped taking US customers? I don't know, but there is no URL so I don't see how this is a phishing email. The domain is correct. This is just weird.

Re: Strange email I just got
If I recall correctly, their official line was that they had not stopped taking US customers but had stopped taking new account requests until they cleared the backlog. Maybe they're just getting to that backlog now?

Re: Strange email I just got
Oh my, this is getting interesting. On the phone with them now, they said the sign up was from yesterday, and they think a merchant signed me up. On hold. I do know I pay my citi bank credit cards on line and they show up as 'citi click 2 pay' or something like that. Curious.
edit - oh and whoever digned me up knew my birthday. |
Re: Strange email I just got
Well, it looks like I am in like Flynn. BOOYAH! (I think, need to read the click2pay threads now to see if I want to be in.)
I think I can narrow which merchant signed me up to three or four possibilities. |
Re: Strange email I just got
I got one too at an email only a Prima client knows about. Looks like they did it, although they denied it in their email. My guess is corporate is signing all US customers up and the clients don't even necessarily know about it.

Re: Strange email I just got
I got the same one too, and the only site I have been using is Prima... interesting.

Re: Strange email I just got
Nate,
I don't think so. I went to click2pays site (not from any link mailed) and called their number. I talked to a rep and apparently a merchant, prima is my best guess, pushed an app through for me yesterday. They had my name, birthday, address, and home phone number. They did not ask me for any other information except when a good time to phone me at home was for verification purposes. Phishing was my first thought too, except for the fact that there were only emails listed (and to the correct domain in text only, so there was no funny business with an altered mail link). Also, the number I called was a US number from their site, though they had an international number listed too (which matches the email). I think prima has cut some deal for US customers here. |

Re: Strange email I just got
Doesn't it freak you out to think that an online entity is giving your personal information away without even asking for your approval?
Isn't that against most terms 'n conditions that is acknowledged when signing up for these poker sites? The fact that C2P isn't even telling you who gave them your info is pathetic, and if you're 100% sure it's Prima, has anyone contacted them to ask why they arbitrarily signed you up for a payment processor against your knowledge? I'm not a paranoid conspiracy theorist, but personal information is personal information. I would be most upset if the online site broke a T&C that I have signed off on. |
