Without any real reads... bet here? You're likely either way behind (any K) or way ahead (most every other holding), so should you check behind? Why? $20 buy-in if it matters. Ty

I push in 2/3 of the pot here, and see what Sparky does. If he reraises I fold, if he calls, no problem, see what the turn brings. You have position.

Continuation bet t200-250. BB might call your PF with a wide range (Ax o/s, med pp, suited connectors, etc).

Reevaluate on the turn.

Re: A simple little question

See, the bet of about 200 was my first instinct, but then I remembered learning about the WA/WB concept and I thought it said in cases where you're either way ahead or way behind, it's optimal to check behind because you get value out of worse hands that would have just folded to a flop bet because they'll often bet the turn. So now I'm kind of confused as to what the best approach actually is.

i would check behind there are few scare cards to worry about i want to induce a bluff from a weaker hand

WA/WB applies more to limit poker I think. Actually just checking makes your decision much more difficult if he puts in a big bet on the turn as he could have been planning to c/r the flop. I usually lead out after a raise so no reason not to do it now especially because pot is worth winning right away with your stack.

Re: A simple little question

Let's look at the stacks and the pot. The pot is 325. You have 1125 and he has 980.

So what is beating you? AA, Kx, 33, 55, 53. That's not a lot of hands and AA and 53 seem unlikely. Plus, there is one K on board so that reduces Kx by 25%.

In this situation, I think you have decide right away if you are going the whole way with this hand. If you are not, then I would bet about 250 on the flop and then fold to a raise or check/fold the turn if called. That's pretty weak IMHO.

If you decide you are going all the way, then I push on the flop. You may even get him to lay down something like K2. You are not "way ahead" here unless BB has a complete trash hand. If he has any piece of that flop he could take the lead with the turn card. So checking and then moving in on the turn might win you a bluff bet but you risk losing the entire pot not to mention most of your stack, even with only a few outs for villain.

Personally, I push the flop and hope for the best. He may even see this as a bluff and call with something like A5 or A3 or a lower PP.
