FT 2.25s? Worth it?

Given the somewhat higher rake on these SNGs are they worth trying to beat?

They play's not much better at the $5.50s, so I'd say no ... Anyone with any SNG clue can beat the $5.50s on FT ... I barely have one and I'm beating this level (although my sample size isn't significant) ...

I played 38 2.25 with a negative ROI. Am I an idiot?

Only conclusion is that your not capable of being a micro limit pro!

Hi yoursmine,

Interesting question. If you have a very limited bankroll, it might be worth paying 12.5% in rake to build back up. Indeed, $2+$0.25 is much better than the $5+$1's (i.e., 20% rake) that used to be very common on PokerRoom, Party, etc.

I have said this before in rake discussions, but I think micro-limit players should strive to achieve a bankroll adaquate for the $16's (Stars has these, other sites?) since the puny 6.7% rake cannot be found again until the $200 levels and up. Assuming you can afford to start from scratch if you bust, I would beging playing the $16's with a bankroll as low as $300 or so since the dramatic rake discount makes these games much easier to profit from in the long term. I would then keep playing these until you are over-rolled for your next buyin ... the rake is much more important than many realize, so always be vigilant when it comes to good rake deals.

Best Regards,
Collin

Re: FT 2.25s? Worth it?

I had a small amount of money left in FT so I decided to work on my SNG game. I figured I would try a sort of Chris Ferguson like challenge ....i.e. take $80 and turn it into 1000. So far Im breaking even after about 100 played. Small sample and maybe im just playing bad but the rake is siginificant so I asked the question
