Best Full Ring Shortstacker?

Who's the best short stacker at full ring?

Who's the one you'd most like to kill.

My vote goes for hootiehoo and mgt8g29gsopok respectively.

Never heard of the first one. The second is pretty bad in my experience and getting killed in the hands I have in my db.

personally I'm finding when it's a tightish time of day, I make most of my money from bad SSers. I think they get frustrated with lack of action, and will poosh with Ace-rag if an ace flops.

I love the SS on the 50NL, but I would like to know the main idea behind the good ones I havenīt found yet. Does anyone have a link that explains the idea of winning SS?

Stacked one yesterday with 72o in the BB. He limped AA utg trying for the limp-reraise but no one raised. Flop came 729, I bet, and he shoved.

go buy Ed Miller's Getting Started in Holdem for a SS strat.

I just came from limit and have 5 more books to read about NL, so is there a thread about the main ideas of SS?

diebitter 07-30-2007 06:10 AM

Re: Best Full Ring Shortstacker?

the main idea is play your big cards very hard. Don't be calling with mediocre or okay hands, be raising and reraising with big hands. You'll note bad SSers break these rules over and over.

ToomuchCoffee 07-30-2007 06:24 AM

Re: Best Full Ring Shortstacker?

Hehe, I only found those bad SS yet.
Wouldnīt it be +EV if you are fullstacked and play your monsterhands hard? The only thing I see is that they have lower swings and others donīt have the implied odds all the time. But I love to push them around:-)

diebitter 07-30-2007 07:05 AM

Re: Best Full Ring Shortstacker?

not too hard. Too hard makes weaker hands fold, which is good play on their part. You want to induce mistakes, not good play.

Ty, but i buy in for closer to half stack, not sure if this qualifies me.

Truth be told, i was only experimenting with it, but i've had my biggest two months ever doing it this way. I don't leave if i double/triple my stack or more though, as usually the tables i can do this on are too juicy to leave

What I see that makes shortstacking profitable for even an average player is that most of the full stackers don't take the odds into consideration against them. Playing small pockets for set value, playing suited connectors..... lose against the average shortie. Yet I see full stackers playing these all the time.

The best shortstacker I know is Raoh on Party.

He 12 tables between NL100 and NL1000, plays 11/10/4+ with 20BB. I have him winning at 3.0 bb/100 over 50k+ hands.

whats the 4%+?

His total aggression factor is over 4 (bets or raises 4x more than he calls).

There is a 5/5 sser at 25NL that is winning at about 80bb/100 over 1k hands in my DB.

Ok if he is always at 20 BB exactly, never gets his blind stolen, doesn't pay rake, gets it AI vs. 8 total opponents over the 5 hands/100 that he plays. Oh yea, he can't lose ever either. If he runs that hot he should def. move up to NL60k.

Huh?

Anybody that gives action to players playing this tightly is not very smart.

If the whole table folded everytime this guy entered a pot he would lose money.

Yea i'm an idiot. I must not have been paying much attention cause 80 was his fold to cbet %. He is running at almost 4ptbb(the only winner in my 25NL db over 1k hands) though playing 6/4.9

Hilarious, I am sure.

I would say that winning 3bb/100 up to NL1000; easily playing huge numbers of tables for hours on end with few difficult decisions; and winning very consistantly with low variance makes the best shortstackers clearly good at what they do. Raoh is a shortstacking TAG (11/10), but he is very good at it.

Re: Best Full Ring Shortstacker?

what is considered a shortstack? 50bb, or like 25bb or both?

diebitter 07-31-2007 06:49 AM

Re: Best Full Ring Shortstacker?

There are different opinions, but 20BB-30BB is your effective range for pure SS strategy without frills.

Bauertson 09-10-2007 05:42 AM

Re: Best Full Ring Shortstacker?

I think Raoh is a good SS-Player, he play 10-12 tables on Party by NL200-1000. An another good player is Olivanja1, he play NL100-NL1000 on Party and have a winrate about 3.5BB/100H in my database.

My shortstacking stats are less nitty than my full stack stats.

Am I doing something wrong?
