50NL: Does this turn bet mean I\'m committed?
 

Villain is a multitabling TAG, but we haven't tangled, so no reads other than that.

When I bet this amount on the turn, do I have to call a shove? If I want to try a bluff, can I get away with less? If I have Ax, should I bet at all? I mean, he's going to have a tough time calling with something like AT, so it could be combo bluff/value, right? I guess I'm wondering what hands, if any, such a line is correct with.

I think it depends on your hand as to whether you are committed. If you have pure air, then no. If you have TPBroadway Kicker then its tough, but you probably are.

If you are bluffing diamonds, then you are committeed.

Generall speaking I think you are and am a very big fan of hte bet size.

I like 3betting to 7 pre-flop.


Well it obviously depends what hand you have.

Yea betting with AX is fine but how many AX's can you have? If it's more than AJ then I don't like pre-flop. AJ I might check on flop. Same with AK and AQ (though more likely if I raised the slightly more) but also with AQ/AK just betting like this is fine IMO though obv. better with AK.



What combo draws could you have here? I don't like trying to bluff the turn.



Edit: I don't actually really like it with AJ much.


And actual stats would give a bit or a clearer picture at least IMO.

If you're semi bluffing diamonds I say you're commited.

Ax I think at this point you're commited, hope for a split, but I would have bet a bit smaller.

If you're playing (kk, QQ, JJ).... I think you got this far, but you're beat.

Sorry, I've been away for a while.

If I've got A3-5, I've got no business making this bet, right? If I've got A7-T, do I have any business making this bet? I guess in both those cases, what I'm looking for is to fold out a better midling ace or charge draws; something like A3 isn't calling me, and I doubt A8 is either.

I guess what I'm trying to figure out is the threshold for making the turn bet with Ax, but I can't quite wrap my head around it because I guess it's complicated between the FE in making a TAG squirm and protecting against a draw. It's relatively straightforward with AK, less so with AQ, but it seems like every Ax below that, a turn bet commits me and a turn check opens me up.

I don't like 3bet A3-5 vs UTG raise. I agree a turn bet commits you and a turn check opens you up. A3-5 really sucks OOP once your 3bet gets called.

On turn with Ax I'd rather check / call a raise under $15, trying to get to showdown without getting too much of the stack in. I'd fold to a large river bet against an ABC TAG. I don't think you get high underpairs bluffing the river too often so he surely has AJ+.

On turn with air I would bet $10 - $15 and shut down if called. I know it is a small bet but I can't see an underpair calling too often even for that amount, and saves you $5 - $10 if he has the goods rather than doing a standard $20+ bet.
