Router Issues (with MSPaint)

I am trying to get my home network to run successfully. Currently, I am failing

The items in my network currently:

My needs:
a) file sharing between the dekstop and the Laptop.
b) access to my FTP server from my laptop
c) desktop to connect fully to party poker automatically via idleminer

I currently achieve b + c, but not a.

Currently, the Desktop is wired into the ADSL modem/router, and my FTP server is wired into my DI-524 router. My laptop is connected wirelessly to my DI-524 router. (My FTP server is a HDTV personal video recorder with an ethernet plug)

Now, when my desktop is connected to the ADSL2 modem, it cannot see my laptop and vice versa. Thus, no file sharing. This is bad.

However, when my desktop is plugged into the DI-524, although it allows file sharing, I lose the ability to connect to partypoker's tables. All other internet access remains fine. I emailed Party about this, and they said:

The error you have encountered is due to a connectivity issue between
your computer and our servers. We shall need you to restart your system,
reopen the lobby and NOT log in. Then try and open a table and log in
when prompted. This should resolve the issue.

While this works, it prevents me from using idleminer to access partypoker (which effectively just clicks on the login button when party starts up)

Does anyone have any ideas on how to make this all work?

After writing this all out, I guess I'm just looking for a way for my desktop (which can be plugged into my DI524 router) to connect directly to party. Any ideas?

I'm not sure why the router stops you from playing poker. Can't you just plug (or wirelessly plug) all computers into the router, and forward the ports you want forwarded?

as it turns out, i was able to use option (1) in this thread to get it to work: http://whirlpool.net.au/forum-replie...fm/577944.html
