I think Monta will be better than Michael Redd, though obviously a different type of player and probably a worse rebounder. (And 6'3 instead of 6'6)

prop bet?

how would you measure it?

what a ridiculous game. I thought the whole 4th quarter was just a practical joke on all us warriors fans, but. . .wow.

Silly to say "great win" in game 14 in November, but this had all the earmarks of a tough loss...shoot like poo, Kings on the line all day, I'm driving home and they're down 4 late...I must've missed those 3s because when I turned the game on the TV, they were up 2.

Love the 4th quarter D, and even the FTs were good tonight!

Good win.

All I can say is prepared to be disappointed. I was actually thinking it'd be awesome if Martin reaches Redd's level (who is currently peaking). I'll poop my pants if Monta ever has that kind of impact.

[/ QUOTE ]

Eh, I think I have a lower opinion on Redd than you do. He's a great shooter with range, and a great ft shooter, but not all that great on the boards or on D. Martin is already at his level and Monta will be. They may not be scoring 26/game, but Martin certainly would be given 19 shots/game, and Monta will get there, and will do more on D and create more for his teammates.

dan,

Not counting this season, I'm largely with you on Redd. I think Martin now is about the same as the Redd of the past couple of years, or darn close at least. Granted it's a small sample size, but Redd is taking it to a new level so far. Grabbing 6 boards and dishing out 4 dimes. I guess he's in a lot better shape this season and has committed to being more well rounded. I guess we'll see in April.

we could set up like a 5k fund from both of us, escrow it away in an account accumulating interest, and in 20 years when both players are out of the league we compare stats

:P

Against a team like the Warriors, Yao is going to get his...the key is to turn Tracy McGrady into a volume shooter.

</Jim Barnett>

Just picked up a 50-200mm lens for my camera, and going tonight...hopefully the shooting improves over last night!

The Warrior FAQ page spells it out a little more clearly...no still cameras with lenses > 3". Fascists. I was able to get a 40-150 in previously because I had a 17-45 on the body like you said. The new lens is so goddamned big, I can't really put it in my current bag without attaching it to the body. Maybe next time...

Game was kinda boring, but that's OK if your team is on the good end of a laugher. Houston did not get good guard play, and that's not the recipe for success against the Warriors.

Harrington had a very nice all-around game with a very efficient 18 points, and effective harrassment of Yao.

well it couldnt have possibly been worse than the celtics/knicks game on espn. That was over as the 2nd started.

Don't think he's that highly regarded. Hard to be overrated when not highly rated.

Re: *** Official 2007-08 Golden State Warriors Thread ***

His potential is overstated. He's loved in fantasy when even there he's not that good. He should be traded, not part of the Warriors' long-term plans.

Re: *** Official 2007-08 Golden State Warriors Thread ***

I tend to agree that Monta is overrated esp. by GSW fans. Not saying he's not good but

Monta or KevMart?
Monta or Barbossa?
Monta or TJ Ford?
Monta or Ronnie Brewer (completely different type of player, obv...)
If/when Andre Miller gets traded possibly Monta or Lou Williams?

The seats were pretty good...as I said earlier, I didn't bother trying to sneak in the bigger (and better) lens, so I got some OK shots, but the lighting isn't great (Yao is a big dude!):

For the photo buffs, these were taken with an Olympus E-500, 40-150mm kit lens at max zoom, aperture priority -0.7. The SHQ image is shrunk down to 25%.

brewer rates horribly at 82games

offense is also > than defense

kidcolin 12-01-2007 07:52 AM

Re: *** Official 2007-08 Golden State Warriors Thread ***

I knew you were basing it on 82games, which you seem to cherry pick about. I'm guessing you're just going based on +/- stuff? Cuz then Monta wins. Roland Rating, PER differentials, then Brewer wins.

edit: my own thoughts on the matter; both seem to be good fits for the systems they're in. I'd say Monta is slightly more valuable to the Warriors than Brewer is to the Jizz.
