Times are strange. We started here at almost the exact same time. I remember constantly reading posts by or talking to people like you, CMI, and JasonT. Those days are far gone and I took a long break from the forum. Now I come back with a tiny bankroll and trying to learn NL. I see people like Clayton and sponger making sick amounts of money when they were basically always at the same skill level as me.

Is you situation similar in that you are more busto now and wish you had stuck with it like them?

[/ QUOTE ]

Nah, I never really question my decision to play less poker. I mean, it would be nice to have that kind of money right now, but I was close enough to a hermit for a while there that I'm glad I didn't take it any further. It's just not something I would've been able to balance well with a social life.

Do you like the forums from back then more or now?

[/ QUOTE ]

The OT forums had a really high quality to quantity ratio back then. There were a lot of memorable threads and all around solid posters. There is still discussion of the same quality nowadays, but there is so much more going on that's its a much smaller percentage of the overall traffic. I do think that the partitioning of forums went much better than I expected.

And how in the HELL did sponger get good at poker when I could always get a confidence boost by seeing his graphs in the past??

[/ QUOTE ]

I know man, Sponger and I used to be the guys who posted too much, played too little, and made money only because there were so many other horrible players it was impossible not to. However, then he went and got serious and got coached by NL-god aba20 (now ebespe). That'll help your game out.

Does Bicycle's Biatch suck at everything, or is his suckiness limited to limit hold'em, identifying collusion, using common sense when driving after a few drinks, stealing from casinos and result orientation?

thanks,

Have you ever made a friendship on this forum, or do you just bring friends over from RL and then find people you hate here?

Did I do something to offend you when we went out the other weekend....?

My 10kth post was about 10 months ago. So no, don't worry.

However, I felt slighted at the time that you would cast me in the lot of unsocial/non-college experience folk:

t0ne,

What's the deal with daryn? Angry Young Man or Misunderstood Genius? Also, do you think he'll ever come back to the forums?

[/ QUOTE ]

I don't think daryn is necessarily either of those. He was definitely a very bright poker player who played in some of the highest limit games around. As for his departure, I think he was partly frustrated with the current state of the forums and partly frustrated with his current lot in life. As such, he figured the most productive thing would be to kill two birds with one stone by leaving the forums.

I do think he will come back at some point, whenever he is ready. I don't think that he left out of hatred for the site or what it had become. Rather, I think he just needed a change to help him move forward with some stuff. I hope he comes back, because he was a very good poster.

It's ok FFK, nothing but [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]s obv. We all have confusing situations that we don't know how to deal with. Wait, what does that even mean?!?
