$16 - QQ raise or push preflop?

Well...?

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t100 (8 handed) by Hand Converter CG

UTG+1 (t685)
MP1 (t2045)
MP2 (t705)
CO (t1450)
Button (t2435)
Hero (t2315)
BB (t1795)
UTG (t2070)

Preflop: Hero is SB with Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], Q[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img].
3 folds, MP2 calls t100, 1 fold, Button calls t100, Hero ??

I'd raise to like 525 based on MP2's shortness to entice him to get it in & BTN to fold.

I think you're too deep to shove profitably here.

You could raise it to 400 (so a raise of 300 more). Then if MP2 shoves, and if the button calls you can then shove over. A raise to 525 forgoes the chance of shoving over a button call I think, since MP2's raise wouldn't be a full raise, meaning you can't 4-bet. (Of course, the btn would probably fold to an AI from MP2, but I still think the move is worth it for the few times it works.)

No way shoving isn't profitable

It just isn't the most optimal play.

Sorry, you're right - I meant not optimal.

I make it 500 and play from there. Hopefully I can get one of those shoving themself as in the short one of them. If they call, I gladly take whats in the pot at the flop

Raise to 450 or a bit more, I'm shoving JJ in this spot.

Can you explain this? It seems counterintuitive to me.

JJ is much harder to play postflop with this stack size, and three possible overcards. A push is profitable with JJ, so many times players like to avoid awkward postflop play by pushing. With QQ, this isnt as much of a problem.
