Stud8 - playing a pair of J

Does this thread seem to have a similar title? Anyway, playing high pairs is one of the trickier parts of the game so...

How did I do here? Seat 7 is aggressive, and I feel he is def going for cr on 4th and will bet 5th 100 % of the time whether he has a low draw or aces or something worse

3rd through 6th is standard. 7th is cloose. i'd probably bet sometimes.

Would it be wrong to fold 5th? You say villain is aggro but lots of hands are ahead of your measly jacks.

he pretty much would have to have aces or trips for us to be significantly behind

I would guess his most likely hands are four to a low or a pair of Aces.

I think 5th would be a fold if our opponent had caught another low card on 5th instead of the T, correct?

[/ QUOTE ]Yes, that would be incredibly bad as we raised in steal position with a good hand and got a check when our opponent caught a clear betting card as well as us under repping our hand further.

If anything we should be considering a raise. His range should contain a lot of hands we beat.

Re: Stud8 - playing a pair of J

I quite like a river bet here, seeing as you have no open pair. If he is folding the 2 pair hands you beat, then surely he also folds aces up, so it works as a bluff. If he calls with aces up then surely he calls with all 2 pair hands, so it works as a value bet. I think?
