Hand reading quiz

Villain is solid and good. He open raises many hands from the cutoff such as 89s, A8s, 44, Q10 etc, but he plays them well for the most part post flop, saving bigger pots for bigger hands yet extracting value when he can.

I think the way you've played your hand has given him a fair amount of information about your strength: checking a flop that is very unlikely to have helped either of you, then betting out on the blank turn.

The size of the river bet really makes it look like he wants a call. My guess would be that he just hit with the jack.

With no more detailed reads or stats on the villain or on how much you've been 3betting from the blinds then I think it's hard to say much more...

Re: Hand reading quiz

with villain's description the call should be a fold preflop.

hard to put villain on a hand because his line taken is so weird/retarded but either way I think a call is -EV

maybe quads or some weird [censored] like that

Nothing too strong given his line/your description.

Thoughts about a c/r on river?

Were you villain in this hand?

Re: Hand reading quiz

why did you call preflop?

edit: i really don't like the turn bet. that card is unlikely to have helped him, but you're very likely to be ahead, so why not check-call? if he hits an overcard on the river, who cares?

his range after the turn call is 77-55,33 a few 44,8x combos, and some good overcards, let's say AK, but AJ could be in his range.

I thought he could be making a thin valuebet on the river with a PP, putting you on {TT-33}, but you are behind the hand he needs to do that (99). We probably still have a call to beat a post-oak bluff though.

Because he thinks calling is more profitable than reraising?
