Live .50/1 home game, 10-handed. Am I a donkey?

(Posted here because it's full ring and I know and respect you guys the best.)

Buy-in is min $50, max $100. I have about $175 or $200.

About six limpers, and I complete blind in the small blind.

Flop is 35T rainbow.

Checks around to button who goes all in for her last $5.50. (She is truly a poor poker player. She will call down and sometimes bet with any draw or pair. Sometimes, she’ll play or call down with A high.)

I look at my cards to see K5s. I decide to call her last $5.50 with my middle pair, but only because it’s her and everyone else checked.

Two other players call! What? What in the world are they check/calling with?

Oh, well, I decide I’m done with the hand until the turn brings a Kh (second heart on board).

I bet $25 and everyone folds. She’s all upset saying, “If you have a K you beat me.”

She shows pocket 9s.

The player across from me calls me a donkey.

Was I a donkey? Was she a fool for not going all in pre-flop with $6.50 left and pocket 9s?

1. how come i never see you around? Is it that you dont want me stalking you like i do learning curve. Dont you know that me stalking you is balla?
2. at a live homegame i think your call is ok, people play so dumb i doubt you werent the best player there.
3. If she was the button and didnt raise all those limpers with 99 no matter what her stack was she made a bad mistake which gets bigger the smaller her stack is in relation to the blinds(so a pretty big mistake she made).
4. I hate and love when idiot fish call me a donkey, but it pisses me off that they called you one. Just smile i guess and know that hes rude and sucks ass at poker.

LOL. Thanks DLM. No, she and I were the only women. She left after that hand (pretty early), and her spot was quickly filled with another guy.

I love that game. In four nights of playing with them, I'm up about $550 (I hope I didn't just jinx myself.)

I lost $140 one night, but my allergies were horrible, I was exhausted, and I should not have been playing at all. I literally handed my last $70 to another player and left.

I don't post hands very often, because I usually know what I did wrong or right after the hand -- usually based on what I read here.

I love to read this forum, though. I've learned a ton.

I just wanted to make sure I wasn't really a donkey. I didn't think so

where the other guys tight or loose? if it was just me and her then its an easy call, but as you said you thought they all had nothing so its marginal but prob correct. As for being called a donkey i would nod and carry on, you want that image when people realise you are an ok player they stop you playing home games they dont invite me no more

She made a donkey play, and with her stack size, it's nothing for you to call the $5.50 unless you think someone is going to ck/raise behind you.

lol, who cares if you're a donkey, you won the money right?

yes, it wasn't the greatest of plays, you only beat a bluff. but whatever, for 5 bb, it's not the end of the world.

LOL. If it had been anyone else at the table, I would have folded. She'd bet that with A high, bottom pair, middle pair, etc. I think anyone else at the table would have bought back in or gone all-in with their last $6.50, so it's moot.

I hope they think I'm a donkey. I'll be back next week!

I actually really like them -- very nice guys and fun to play poker with.

I probably min re-raise here to protect your hand. Flat calling seems to invite people to do a co-op play with you (which everyone in my home game seems to think is super standard, even in thought it's not a tournament).

And yeah, I call (well, raise really), because she could have anything here and you are getting a good price.

Don't get your feelings hurt!

I think Jeff summed it up well. You don't really want the other players in there and you could have great odds even if you are behind since she is all in.
