If you've got a good 5k-10k to spend on a watch, go for a nice Hublot or Zenith.

Finally someone with decent taste in watches. Buddy of mine has the Hublot Big Bang Black, he just added an AP Alinghi to his collection last month. Dude is sick, he has over 15 of these luxury watches and doesn't even wear them.

To the OP, you're not going to get a "nice watch" for 1k. A good watch will last you a lifetime and you can even give it to your son. If you won the Sunday Million, go spend upwards of 6k which is where the real watches start.

Panerai, Rolex are your best bets. Hublot, Zenith, audemars piguet, breguet are very very nice but probably too much for a 20yr old. For your age demographic, Rolex and Panerai are your best bet IMO because they are leagues above Tags and Breitlings and most of your friends will still recognize those brands.

Rolex - Daytona, Yacht Master, Submariner.
Panerai - whichever one you think looks the best.

For young guys, take pick a chrono.

For 1k, you're going to be looking at alot of garbage designer brands like Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Gucci, etc. Stay away.

To the person who suggested Movado. Dude if they sell it in Sears, it ain't a nice watch. LOL

Dude, look at the first post, then look at his avatar, then look at his nickname, then look at the way he writes, then look at his age, then look at where he lives.

He's not gonna give a damn about if his watch survives 20 or 200 years, a 1k watch is fine, it is a lot of money (at least to the average guy) and you get some flashy "balla"-like watches for it.

while i dont disagree with everyting u said, your comments on breitling are WAY OFF BASE. Breitling is on par with Rolex. in fact they are actually known as the rolex of aviator watches.

I second the Rolex Daytona, Submariner, or Sea Dweller stuff. In any case, definitely go classic collectible rather than new/shiny/splashy/trendy.

Go to the most reputable watch place in town that sells high-end used stuff. A killer watch doesn't actually cost in the end -- it will retain most of its value if you buy it right! Sometimes you can even make a few bucks. I paid 3k for my first Daytona. Ended up selling it back to the same shop 3 years later for 5.5k (they got more popular in the meantime.)

What you want is the watch that will get you out of a jam and return 90% of its value within 48hours if you're stuck somewhere out of cash. Nothing does that quite as well as a Rolex.

1k watches generally don't fit this bill(there are exceptions), but the ones that are 3k+ do...

I just want to point out that you shipped $100 to the guy who posted a brand that is geared towards 'legal' copies of real designer brands. They're ALL 100% absolute trash and not baller watches. It's like going to Soho in new york and buying a 'Rolex' from the guy with a briefcase and a cardboard stand after he bangs it against your hand so you can see it is self-winding and then takes your key and scratches up the 'unscratchable' face right in front of your eyes. You can get those for $50. Actually there's a better option than buying an Invicta, buy yourself a plane ticket to NYC and go to Soho and get a fake baller watch for $50. Then enjoy a night in NYC partying with the other $700 you saved.

Buying a fake watch for 50$ when you can afford a real one is

epic. failure.
