Raise pre-flop. Bet out on flop. If he's still with you then and rivers his 2 pair to catch up then you can be upset although you should also be happy he was willing to get his chips in when all indications from your betting were that he was beat. The passive way you played the hand pre-flop gave him hope that he was good. The c/r on the flop was the only indication that he might not be.

I thought in early position its ok to hide a AK hand. Your saying he might not believe I had an ace because I showed no pre flop strength. So is it ever ok to walk in early with AK or just rarely ok?

I'm not saying it isn't okay to limp in here, but it hides the strength of your hand by doing so. In a blind vs blind battle I'll often assume top pair is the nuts in BB's position and discount your check raise as possibly just a "move." A lot depends on your image, etc. The line you took was okay in that it gave you a chance at a bigger pot. It was just a higher variance line and you experienced the negative side of variance this specific time.

Well put, that is a great view and I will build on it.

If you're willing to bet 5000 on the turn, I'd say shove. I'm not sure he'd fold based on what you've mentioned, but if your read told you that you were well ahead, get it all in on the turn. And ya, I like to raise preflop with a hand like AK. I'm not big on being cute with it.
