1/2 NL live nut straight sees river pair

Live 1/2 at Hustler (50-100 buy in)

Villain is on my left - pretty new to the game. Knows the basics, is friendly, but appears to lack in depth knowledge. Play is fairly weak and passive.

My image is tight/strong.

Relevant Stacks:

Hero: $150 (having just suffered a series of suck outs)
Villain: 80 ish. in CO.

Hero is in hijack with QT

A few limpers, Hero makes a small raise to 6 (might have been 8) (for variety - my raises in this game are usually 10 to 15 - but this is a weak starting hand, and I'm playing it for variation purposes).

Villain calls, all limpers fold.

FLOP: 9 6 J rainbow.

Pot: About $15

Hero semi bluffs out with $12. Villain calls.

Turn: 8

Hero checks, Villain bets $10. Hero raises to $30 (I'm wondering if I should have just pushed here, but I'm thinking I want a call and I think $30 is the max he'll go)

Villain thinks for awhile and calls.

RIVER: J

Hero?

If hero checks, and villain pushes all in for his last $30, then hero?

Just lead the turn for maximum value. Carry on from there.

Hate mini raise pre. Ambivalent about flop semi-bluff. River is an obvious push. Villain has 30% pot behind and should be committed with whatever he called turn with.

I may have check called this flop, then C/raised the turn.

Though I see the value in leading the turn. Same size? 30?

The reason I ask is that I am getting VERY little action at all at this table, so I was thinking this might be a spot to get tricky,.

Just get it in. If your read was that villain wouldn't call more than another $20, then the paired board shouldn't beat you. If he had two pair or a set, you should've shoved the turn. I prefer leading the turn to a check raise especially if he's passive.

Also preflop is pretty bad in a game with a 25-50BB buy in.

At this table, raises over 8 get no action. In this case, I just wanted a post sweetener and a little action.

Right now, I can't remember if I actually semi bluffed the flop, or I check/called $10 on the flop. I'm beginning to think this was a check/call.

Bad as in too small? larger PF raises get nothing but the blinds & Limps in this game. I am usually raising 3 to 4X the BB + 1BB for each limper, though sometimes I slow down a bit for variety.

I agree with the comments about the preflop play. As the game is extremely shallow (there are many loose players with 20BB stacks around!), forget about all pot-sweetening preflop or other fancy plays and just play ABC. Plus, it's extremely unlikely that you'll take it down by raising. Just limp along.

About the turn play, I just lead $24 and just go all-in on the river regardless of card.

Also, you said you raise to $6 to mix-up your play. In small stakes NL games (especially SHALLOW stack NL games), you are costing yourself much money by doing this. Nobody is paying attention, and even if they are, they won't adjust appropriately.

all in? eff stacks are 40bb.
semibluff against a dude who basically has no clue doesn't look like a good idea to me, so i'd c/c the flop.
