Vaporizers, is the Volcano worth it?

My vaporizer recently met its untimely end, and I'm considering taking the opportunity to upgrade to a Volcano, but the price difference is so steep that I really wonder if it's worth it.

What I had:

http://www.vaporwarehouse.com/images/vbhandsfree.jpg
Price tag: $150

What I'm considering getting:

http://www.bestvaporizer.com/reviews..._vaporizer.jpg
Price Tag: $540

As you can see it's a dramatic price difference. I am also open to suggestions for vaporizers I haven't yet heard of.

Oh, OOT, please guide me in my moment of indecision.

sorry i'm a newb but what the hell does a vaporizer even do?

Re: Vaporizers, is the Volcano worth it?

heats the pot up to a temperature high enough to vaporize the thc but not high enough to start combustion. apparently a bunch of toxins are released in the combustion reaction that aren't in vaporization.

yes i realized i should not be a googletard so i'm reading about them on wiki. Interesting... i still prefer the old fashioned knife hit.

Q:

How much better in terms of health is this supposed to be for you, compared to say, smoking from a piece? This might be a really stupid question, but if nothing is on fire then theoretically you're only filling your lungs with THC and not with smoke?

I'm an endurance athlete (rowing) but I still like to get high sometimes. I don't smoke that often (maybe 2-3 times a month) and don't really think I've noticed decreased performance, but I couldn't be sure.

a lot better on your lungs though

there's an old thread where someone did a lengthy review of a couple vaporizers. it was very well done, convinced me to buy one and I didn't even smoke.

Re: Vaporizers, is the Volcano worth it?

Like previously said, it is a very different feeling.

Instead of short term memory loss + head buzz, think body buzz and taking a couple of tylenols. That's the best I can describe it. I'd prolly try one before I bought it, but I bought mine blind and definitely do not regret it.

It's a well made product, and feels like it is accurately priced once you get it. You save a bunch on weed and there is a substantial improvement in your lung health - whenever I'm sick I find smoking only prolongs the illness... vapes don't have this prob.

Re: Vaporizers, is the Volcano worth it?

Definitely worth it but see if you can try/talk to someone with a Herbalaire. I love my Volcano but I've heard that Herbalaires are great bang for buck at around $250 or so and functions very similar to a VOlcano.

It lowers the amounts of co and tar you inhale. Smoking 2-3 times a month is over the long term not generally harmful, and probably not very risky either.

Re: Vaporizers, is the Volcano worth it?

I would'nt get anything besides volcano. If you smoke a lot, there is nothing better than mixing in or even replacing pipe. It is much easier on the lungs imo and generally a different high. They claim it helps with efficiency but I'm pretty sure I disagree with that. Would say great for traveling too, but I just got mine sntched by security in tulsa oklahoma. We took the opportunity to upgrade to the new digital Damn I cant wait to get home now.

You won't regret this purchase.

a lot better... the smoking part is what's bad for you, thc doesn't even have a known toxicity level, it makes you kinda dumb but isn't otherwise physically harmful. much less so than alcohol fwiw.

also, i don't smoke pot anymore (for years now) so don't think i'm just a pro-weed pothead. but it's much less harmful than smoking it, or drinking booze, etc.

how are these purchased? online or at retailers?

Re: Vaporizers, is the Volcano worth it?

A buddy of mine who smokes more than Bob Marley ever did (really) is big time into mountain climbing and he looooves his vaporizer.(not the volcano) Says his lungs feel like new so apparently it works. He also says the high is better. I suppose if I smoked (don't anymore) I'd use one. There's actually a battery powered portable one that is very expensive but seems to be worth it since vaps are not exactly subtle - you know - like when you are driving down the highway on the way to a Roger Waters concert or something.

Yes. That's it. It is, if you smoke pot and can afford one then buy it.

its definitely worth it for your lungs (i've already noticed a difference even though I only use my vape for about half my smoking), but i dont like the vape high as much as i like normal highs...w/e

What did you get for $150?

Re: Vaporizers, is the Volcano worth it?

Can you use lower quality weed but a little more to get the same high since it just burns out the THC?

Synur 11-29-2007 02:13 AM

Re: Vaporizers, is the Volcano worth it?

I got a Vapir One and I'm pretty satisfied with that product. My only grip is that the high you get from the vapor isn't the same high you'd get from a joint or a bowl. It's more of a head high. I mostly roll J's and smoke outside. When that's not available I bust out the vaporizer. I mostly use it to keep my smoking on the downlow as the smell isn't as foul smelling as a joint would be. It smells almost like burnt popcorn.

Re: Vaporizers, is the Volcano worth it?

Couple of friends have one, and it was cool using at first, but I never use it anymore. For one thing it takes longer to set up (grind weed/blow up balloon) than just loading up a bowl in the waterpipe. Plus generally a person sucks down the balloon, and then someone needs to reload, and refill until the next person gets to smoke. Passing a pipe is way faster/easier. Lastly when I want to smoke weed, I want to smoke weed...vaporizing is nice, but I prefer smoking it.

LOL that's gotta be a damn good review! Seriously I research/read reviews of almost everything I buy and a good review really goes a long way in convincing me and they are usually spot on.

How long does it take to smoke out of these? Like preparation / cleanup / all that crap. This thread has me intrigued in purchasing one now.

edit: how much do you actually save in weed? Significantly more than bud in a pipe rather than a blunt / joint?

The Vapor Brothers one takes about 5 minutes to heat up. Stuff the weed in while your waiting and your good to go.

You def save a good amount of weed from it. If you were to roll a blunt then empty it out and smoke all of it out of a vaporizer instead you would be so unbelievably high.

Also be careful cause the glass gets pretty hot. One time I was drunk and I took the thing out to look at it for some reason. Well I was an idiot and accidentally pressed it up against my upper lipp and burned a semicircle into it. Needless to say I look like a tard for the next week or so.

Re: Vaporizers, is the Volcano worth it?

also considering the volcano,
I tried the very cheap version in the past, that is this:

http://www.head-shop.de/images/produ...2/05722_02.jpg

You heat up the metal with a lighter while inhaling with a normal bong.
It's so not working fine and with $50 a way overpriced waste of money.

Re: Vaporizers, is the Volcano worth it?

Bought a Volcano and am using it. It is far superior to the Vapor Brothers. It is freaking amaing and is definitely worth the money. I don't regret my decision and I've only been using it for like 5 minutes.

[censored] this thing rules.

Re: Vaporizers, is the Volcano worth it?

I like the volcano a lot, but it really depends on preference. It's true that the volcano does get you reeeally baked, but theres no way you couldn't get that high from takin some bong tokes. You do save weed in the long run, it's more healthy and you can use it inside because it doesn't really smell like weed. Although, but the mystique of it all runs out after a while.
