Narbacular Drop > Portal
 

Anyone else very excited about the Half Life 2: Orange Box release that includes Portal? It's here.

If you haven't played the very cool original version behind the idea, it's here , and titled Narbacular Drop.

So some kids at DigiPen worked on a senior project and got into Valve to show it off. 20 minutes later, they were hired to make Portal. After playing ND and seeing all the possibilities, I just can't wait to get my grubby little hands on Portal.

Is this news to anyone else? Or old news?

Digipen student projects are an excellent showcase of innovation in game design. They aren't all winners, but the good ones are VERY good. If you haven't already, check out Toblo, Base Invaders, and Squishy the Starfish. Squishy wasn't submitted to any game festivals so it isn't as polished as the other two, but it's still a very interesting design.

but yea, Narbacular Drop is cool. Try to get yourself into an infinite loop of falling with a door on the floor and ceiling.
