Maybe the forum title "The Dorm" has given me visions of some horrible school where the dorm has only communal showers.

My answer would be to pick the soap up, since I use body wash, and not bar soap, since there is no context in college where bar soap can get anything other than scuzzy and disgusting.

I would be a lot more concerned about actually bending over to get the soap, rather than using the contaminated soap itself... especially in my hall.

i never used bar soap in college dorm showers. only Liqui-soap. bar soap is -EV in community showers

It falls on the floor, you pick it up, run it under the hot water for a second....why wouldn't you use it?? Man we are a pampered generation!
