Can\'t find postgresql password.

I downloaded postgresql a year ago and can't remember my password, I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling, but it has done nothing any tips?

it's probably something obvious.

like "postgrespass" or "abcde" or "12345" etc.

Re: Can\'t find postgresql password.

Well you can delete the hash for the postgres password by going to "Program Files\PostgreSQL\$VERSION\data\base\global" open the file pg_pwd with notepad and then delete the hash string. Unfortunately that just makes the whole thing unusable. I suspect that uninstalling isn't removing this file. Perhaps if you uninstall and then delete the file?

I think postgres maintains there own forums, you might try there.

You can find it in plaintext by searching "postgres" or "pg_pass" or something like that in th Windows Registry.

Take care if you don't know about the registry, tho.

PT stores the password in plaintext, postgres does not. Lets hope PT3 corrects this.

Finally! Someone understands. Anyway, if security was really important PT would ask for the password each time it connects to the database. I don't see PT3 going this route so I doubt it will change.
