Borgata vs. Taj Game Softness

I'm planning to go to AC this weekend for a day trip from NYC, most likely to play 2/5 NL. My preference would be to go to the Borgata, but there's no bus from NYC that stops there (bus stops at the Taj, though). So I'm wondering; are the games at the Borgata any softer than at the Taj, such that it might be worth taking the extra time to get to the Borg?

No, but the Borg is a much pleasanter environment than the Taj.

Also, in my experience, the AC gate at Port Authority is often chaotic (especially on Friday afternoons) and trying to get on a bus to a specific casino is usually not as good a strategy as getting on the first bus you can.

Definitely true.

From my limited experience, I found the games to be softest at Caesar's. Granted, the dealers/floor might not be great, and the ambiance might not be as nice as the Borg, but I play poker to make money, not to feel like a high roller because I'm surrounded by beautiful people in a luxurious setting.

this might not help you at all, I have no idea where the buses run

The only comment i would add is that at the borgata there will be more 2/5 games going then anywhere else so your wait for a game will probably be the shortest there.

But by the time he walks to the jitney stop, catches a jitney, and takes the 10 minute ride to Borgata (it stops at Trump Marina and Harrahs first), he will be losing time, plus the time to make the reverse trip when he wants to go back to NYC. If you don't care about ambiance, the Taj is fine. Showboat is right next door if you want a change of pace and they spread 2/5 NL as well.

I think 2/5 at the Taj plays slightly smaller than at Borgata most of the time. Also, if it makes any difference to you - 2/5 at Taj is raked vs time charge at Borg

How much is the time charge; $5 per half hour?

True that about the extra travel; I'll most likely play at Caesar's or the Borg. Since I'm already taking the subway to 42nd street and a 2h20m bus ride, I probably won't be up for more public transportation once I get to AC.

I forgot to mention you can also take a taxi, taxis are capped at $11 in the AC limits.
