NBC/NFL waste flex scheduling on Favre\'s finale.

The NFL has made such a big deal out of the fact that flex scheduling will mean no more crappy primetime games then they pull this.

Technically the Packers could be playing for a spot in the playoff games, but they'll need a whole lot of help and will likely be eliminated before the game starts.

Green Bay can clinch playoff berth with:

1) GB win + NYG win + GB clinches strength of victory tiebreaker over NYG, OR
2) GB win + NYG loss or tie + STL loss or tie, OR
3) GB win + NYG loss or tie + CAR win, OR
4) GB win + NYG loss or tie + ATL win, OR
5) GB tie + NYG loss + STL loss + ATL loss or tie + CAR loss or tie

So basically they just decided that they'd rather show what could be Favre's last game than try to show the most meaningful game. Way to waste a great chance to show a great game.

I'm so glad I'll get to see 3 quarters of Brian Griese instead of a meaningful game.

three other games are potentially more significant in determining playoff berths. of those, two will be slaughters, and the other is giants-redskins, which isn't really more appealing than bears-packers. does anyone here think the giants need more nationally televised games, or want to see jason campbell that badly?

If this is Favre's final game, how is putting it on display for a national audience a "waste"?

The Giants and Skins are on the NFL Network on Saturday so any discussion about them getting a flex game is moot.

Just a note here, but this won't be Favre's last game.

Trust me on that.

There's only one game I care about next week, and that's the Broncos-Niners. Considering I'm here in Colorado, I think I'll get a chance to see it.

That said, I think it's a good thing that they're showing Favre's game. There's a playoff race every year, there are good games every year. Favre is a true icon in the NFL, and I would want the opportunity to watch his final game.

Eagles-Falcons got moved to 4:15 and are the national game on FOX. Oh man, I can't wait to boo Jimmy Johnson during the pre-game if they come to Philly. "The Eagles have no chance of making the playoffs." What an ignorant [censored].

Too bad they can't move the game sunday morning pending the result of the NYG/WSH game (yes, I know this is impossible).

The Giants aren't going to beat the Redskins on the road, and the Packers win and get in in pretty much every scenario that involves the Giants losing, which means they have a pretty good chance of controlling their own destiny. It's not a bad choice for a national game.

The more interesting angle IMO is whether the national audience and late timing of the game will enocurage Lovie Smith to leave his starters in any longer. Personally, I think it might, and I'd be kind of peeved if I were a Pack fan.

Peeved because you have to beat the 1st string team like everyone else has had to face?
