A-Rod opts out of contract

Sports Illustrated is reporting that A-Rod opted out of his contract today. Boras notified the Yankees and MLB.

Re: A-Rod opts out of contract

I'm surprised that he's done this. I'm especially surprised he's done it so early.

The Yankees made ARod an offer. I figured it was at least the beginning of negotiations.

Re: A-Rod opts out of contract

I really think by the time ARod signs with a new club, he will not make that much more money then he would have if he signed an extension with the Yankees. My guess is he really wasn't happy in New York or Boras thinks that the Yankees not negotiating with ARod now that he's opted out is BS.

Well, if he extends then he won't sign a 10 year deal so it won't be bigger than his last contract so Boras doesn't want it. I'm sure he thinks/told Arod the Yanks will have to talk.

The Yankees can spend on pitching and arod. And it isn't as if they're debating between Arod and Santana or anything. The Yankees should resign him.

Re: A-Rod opts out of contract

Yankees must now trade for Johan and sign him for 6/150 AFTER A-Rod fails to get his 10 year deal. That would send a nice big F-U to A-Rod and Boras.

Jurollo 10-28-2007 11:06 PM

Re: A-Rod opts out of contract

Also, the Yanks were getting subsidized by the Rangers, no reason they shouldnt have thrown gobs of money at AROD, the YES! network needs him, the Yankees need him and they blew it, nice job Yanks, nothing makes me happier.

CDS,
Why isn't Jeter a douche he is getting paid similarly to A-Rod isn't as productive and wouldn't leave his position when it would benefit the team. He also GIDPed in tons of key spots during the playoffs this year.
