Becoming a courier for free/cheap flights

The basic idea is that someone needs a package hand delivered and they call you and give you a free or cheap ticket to do it. The downsides are that you can't always choose your city and you sometimes get only a one way ticket.

Sites are charging money to give you information/sign you up. Do you have to sign up for one, if so, which is best?
