Strange old-school question...
 

I'm a big fan of ancient computer games - I downloaded a bunch from some pay site. The problem is, my computer for whatever reason, claims to have no EMS or XMS available to run these games. Obviously this is absurd - anyone know a possible fix? I'm dying to play some Tony Larussa Baseball 2.

You might try DOSBox. I don't have a lot of experience with this, but it is intended primarily to run DOS games. Another option would be to scrounge an old PC somewhere and install DOS or freeDOS on it.

yeah, i didn't want to have to scrounge up an old computer - I have an older computer that will play these games I think, but don't have the room for it really.

The strange thing is I was able to run DOS-based games a few months ago - I don't know what changed.

There are some setings you can fiddle with in the XP comaptability wizard, as well as the config.nt and autoexec.nt files. I don't run much DOS software any more, so I'm not all that sure what would work. Another option if your BIOS allows booting from a USB device would be to install DOS to a USB flash drive or external HD.
