Farrell\'s Ice Cream Parlour

This came up on a thread on another site. Anyone remember this place? It was THE place to have your b-day when I was a kid. Just prior to Chuck-E-Cheese coming on the scene.

Hi Bernie, it looks like there are just 2 Farrell's left, one in Hawaii and the other in Los Angeles.

Recent court action , in case you are interested.

These days, I think kid oriented gym's (gymnastics, swimming, or other sports) are the way to go for kids parties. The other popular option around here seems to be carnival type places with rides, video games and Laser Tag,

I'll take that to mean you don't remember it.

I remember this place. It was the closest thing to Disneyland for a kid. Fantastic! Very cool, but very expensive; we could hardly ever afford to go there. It's a real shame these places have closed down, because they were great.

I had no idea any were still open, btw. It would be great if they could bring them back again.

Yep. It was primarily just for b-days for us too.

I saw a pic of an old menu. The Zoo was $10. Biggest thing on there. You knew you were getting the big treatment when you got that.

Man, $10 was alot back then...

You talking about the place in Auburn out by the Sambo's Denny's (instead of the Denny Denny's)? That place was great, better than getting those peanut shaped balloons from Shakey's.

Farrell's was great. I remember when the video games went in and Farrell's changed from being a rare destination to being a magnet.

One of the first luxuries I splurged for with paper route money was a Zoo.

Farrell's was also the place where one of my scheme oriented friends came up with the cockroach trick. As a grade schooler he dragged a bug into Farrell's, let it scurry out of its container and smashed it with a napkin. Free meal!

He parlayed that trick into some neat workplace skills and has pushed his net worth into the tens of millions.

The one I remember going to was at southcenter mall.

There was one up in N Seattle, but that one's gone now though it hasn't been gone long.

I remember Sambos! Not the one in Auburn, but the one in Renton.

I loved Farrell's when I was a kid!!
Birthdays getting a zoo and watching them run around with it and then other times going there and eating the Pig Trough, or whatever it was called, and then them making a big production about making a pig of yourself at Farrell's and presenting you with a pin or something.
Great fun back in the time when I could eat all the ice cream I wanted and never gain a pound!!!
