Re: DERB

Without going through the zillion threads and messages on this topic, could someone fill me in on the final consensus about DERB and did his numbers ever cool off?

Thanks

Re: DERB

The answer as to "how he does it" is just so obvious. I have previously posted about the need for software that identifies these players and the frequency with which they are at the same table with other players with "unexplainable" stats.

The software program should identify: 1. players with unusually high earn rate (BB/100); and who (2) play an unusually high percentage of hands; and who (3) also play an unusually high percentage of time at the same table with another player possessing qualifications 1 and 2.

He disappeared from online poker awhile back. Soon after he got all of this attention here, IIRC.

Nice bump. My favorite quote from myself in this thread: "Floater and DERBS might be able to thrive up here [30-60] and certainly adds some dimension to limit holdem."

Wow. Things sure have changed.

Jesus, is it really [censored] sad that i'm feeling nostalgic looking at this thread?

Makes me wonder if DERB played on Absolute... or if he only played on Party, maybe Party had the same security leak.

It did take 2 1/2 years but this is the best post of the thread.

stigmata, in that thread you say:

2) Andrew Prock, who started the recent "DERB" thread is part of "Project Mayhem", based in, you guessed it, Ljubljana. However, when this was pointed out to him in the DERB thread, he stopped responding.

do you have a link to that thread?

Re: DERB

Its been moved off to the archive server, pretty sure that thread was started sometime after this one, but this one has been bumped every few months and hence hasn't been moved. Archive server is obviously [censored] [censored], good luck with that....

are you implying prock's statement was particularly wise or something given what we now know about high stakes lhe play? because that statement was, i believe, referring to the hand where derb overcalled the river with AJo on a completely ragged board after james 3bet him pre and bet every street into 2 players.

knowing prock, he was probably fkcing with james though.

aaah, i was just trying to find that other thread, and this statement leaped out of me from somewhere. I remember the hand now.

The comment just struck me as typifying Prock's bullish and combative stance from the start, which in retrospect seems possibly somewhat telling.

Re: DERB

That was a fun stony moment for me. I have only been semi-active on 2+2 since like jan 06 or so when people like bicyclekick told me how cool 2+2 was and there was even this guy named Tommy Angelo that played guitar and wrote a song called slowroller.

Yeah.

Is it possible that as the game is changing a different style may be more profitable? Like, now since everybody sees 30/20/2 as excellent stats, perhaps tightening up may be more profitable since we aren't getting the fold equity as we did back then when everybody wasn't playing laggy.

Purple kush ftw.

wasnt so obv when people are saying "that's how everyone plays now".

unless everyone plays 30/20 in full ring, and i just dont know it yet, since i havent played a 10 handed table in about 2 years.

Adebisi 11-27-2007 09:56 PM

Re: DERB

I was saying it was obvious because no one would care about this guy if those were 6-max stats. Even a few years ago, ~30/20 wasn't considered abnormal for a winning player.

What ever happened to the whole Ljubljana stable of players?

Are they still at Party? There used to be about a dozen of these guys (with stats varying from normalish to way out of line) in the Party mid/high games a few years back.

Once Party opened up the 50/100 and 100/200 tables, I remember he was roughly breakeven over a big sample in my database at those limits. It's been awhile(2 years?) so I could be misremembering.
