Official Illinois has more wins than Michigan and ND combined thread

Zooktastic!

Hey, I'll enjoy it while it lasts. A lucky win at Syracuse next week and we can keep this thread alive for 14 days!

If you lose to Syracuse, there should be a Congressional investigation. Syracuse couldn't even beat Michigan.

Awesome thread.

While I did not go to Illinois, I have a warm spot in my heart for the school, as my grandfather and great uncle both played football there (I even used to drive my grandfather's former car, which had an Illinois alumni sticker on it).

I would need to do some research to confirm it, but there is a chance my great uncle was on the OL that blocked for Red Grange. I am not at all positive about that, though. My mom or aunt told me he played OL, and I think that I remember his age would have made him overlap with Grange for at least a year.

That [censored] is terrible. Also you have a stadium mid construction it looks like crap. Also, you got smothered by WIU's defense which is supreme.

Wait, north endzone student section? There aren't even any grandstands there. I just looked at a seating chart and it doesn't look like there's nearly enough room for all the students.

Also, NU has more wins than any of them, including powerhouse D1 team Nevada. Ship it.

But don't forget that the mighty Indiana Hoosiers have more wins than the three of them combined! We do miss Michigan on the schedule in the one year that they suck...

Re: Official Illinois has more wins than Michigan and ND combined thread

while I appreciate the thread Clarkmeister, Illinois sucks.

I think they're only 50/50 to win @ Syracuse.

The offense was dreadful yesterday. Juice is still awful. I think Illinois only had 2 plays of over 25 yards v a 1-AA team. The only benefit is WIU's coach called plays to keep the game close instead of to try and win.

The saving grace is just about the entire Big11Ten is one big steaming pile of [censored], which should make the Illini competitive and maybe even win a game or two.

Not a fair criticism

When a school plays in a big boy's stadium, it takes awhile to do renovations. They did get the entire North Endzone stands built, moved the scoreboard from the North Endzone to the South Endzone, and gutted the parts of the West Grandstand that needed to be removed for the new luxury boxes while maintaining the old structure this offseason. It's pretty complex to redo a large portion of a stadium built in 1924 and refurbished in the mid80s without it falling apart. All the while, trying to keep the stadium accessible for 60,000 fans. For one season, only 2/3 of the stadium is accessible. Doesn't seem that bad in the grand scheme of things. I thought the stadium looked good considering all that is taking place.

also the year they cannot stop a spread

Lewis-Hardy-Thigpen would put up some monster numbers v scUM this year. I'd still say Michigan wins 45-38 though.

I still have my copy of the 1987 game on tape. I'll have to break it out to watch Dave Schnell knock off the Wolverines.

I'm married to a UM grad who could not possibly care less about sports. I was flipping channels yesterday when Oregon scored to go up 39-7 and even she was wondering what was going on with the Wolverines.

I don't even predict we beat UB right now. Juice is going to have the game of his life next week against Cuse...we can't stop anything and our offense/playcalling is atrocious. Greg Robinson might be the worst coach ever.

I really have to believe he's gone after this year...it looks awful for the school when he wins 4 games in his first 2 and probably wins 0-2 this year. Gross is a whole other issue but I hope he has the common sense to fire him given future home and homes with teams like USC. We have no shot in recruiting wars any more. The future looks awful with Robinson at the helm.

Re: Official Illinois has more wins than Michigan and ND combined thre

Juice's pass he shorted to Russ Weil on a little swing epitomizes his abilities at throwing the ball.

He either throws rockets or floaters will no real direction on them. The only passes we completed yesterday were screens and little curl routes that any high school QB can throw.

Juice is basically a running quarteback who can throw a football really, really far. He has no touch or accuracy on most of his passes, which is a huge problem when you face teams you can't run all over.

Let's see some more of Eddie McGee please?!

fortunately, the Big11Ten is awful. Unfortunately, Illinois has the toughest conference schedule. Oh well, I'm hoping to go to Detroit for the Motor City Bowl.

I would prefer the Champs Sports (Orlando) or Alamo (San Antonio) or Insight (Tempe) Bowls to the Motor City Bowl (Detroit). I'll take anything though.

Sidenote: The guy who used to throw passes and handoff to me in high school tore up the Motor City Bowl last year (Dan LeFevour QB - CMU)
