Where to sit?

You're about to join a ten handed table online with players you've never seen before because this is a new site for you. There are 2 seats available with one player between them. Do you take the seat on the left or the right?

This question is retarded.

Right of player on bottom of your screen = Left of player on top of your screen

Question should be if you'd sit to HIS left or right

I'm pretty sure that's what OP means. I take the seat to his left. Other than people just leaving for random reasons, seats are empty on either side most likely because someone got stacked - of course look at stack sizes as well to determine.

Seat to the left is safest IMO without reads in case the person to his right got tired of having a LAG to his left. If he's a nit then oh well, make a note and sit to his right next time.

Mike Caro's rule, if you don't know anything else, is to sit on the left of the money. That guy is probably loose.

That's new to me though I should have thought about that too. Just wondering why the question, and what other reasons there might be. I might think that the weaker players are more likely to enter fuller tables so it makes sense to take the left seat.

In practise there are however many more factors to consider when taking a seat; stack sizes (weaker players have smaller stack sizes and one wants to have a position over the bigger stacks) player names (tells about the opponent type), what the players at one's nearer left and right are.

I will be sitting to the left of my choice of two different players. I'll sit to the left of the player with more money.

what if the only 2 seats are side-by-side. You take the left seat or the right seat?

In this case it still depends on stacks. If the player to my right has more than a full buy-in, I'll sit to his immediate left. Otherwise I'll leave the space between us.
