I think it's interesting to look at the difference between the human polls and the computers.

Here is a list taking USA Today minus the computer average. So negative means that the coaches poll has the team that many spots better than the computer average whereas positive means that the USA Today poll ranks that team that many spots lower than the computer average.

Virginia 9.5
Kentucky 9
Auburn 7
Arizona State 6.5
Kansas 6.5
South Carolina 5
Tennessee 4.5
LSU 3
Virginia Tech 2.5
South Florida 2
Michigan 2
Missouri 1
Georgia 1
Cincinnati 1
West Virginia -3
Florida -3.5
Ohio State -4.5
Boston College -5
Texas Tech -5*
California -5.5
Oklahoma -7
Oregon -7
Texas -8*
Hawaii -9
USC -14

* Texas and Texas Tech aren't rated by the computers so I assumed a ranking of 26th. Therefore, the above gives the minimum negative difference.

Speaking generally, the Pac 10 seems to be rated significantly higher by people than the formulas while the opposite is true for the SEC. It's interesting that of the 25 teams only 5 were within 2 spots.

It would take an absolute retard or the BCS to completely disregard margin of victory; I am not that person.

SoS should be and should have always been 1000x more important than margin of victory.
