Try to trick him into "direct connecting."

Open up a command prompt

Type in Netstat

Write down all IP addresses displayed.

Close everything you have running (IE windows etc) if you can direct connection or get him to accept a file, webcam type this in a cmd box:

netstat -a > laptop-thief.txt

He will have access to her email account so hopefully he'll be looking for info in there. So now you need to email him a link with an embedded image hosted on an external server where you have access to the logs.

If he's dumb enough you might just get an IP address.. find out what ISP this IP is registered too. Get a phone number for the ISP and run to the cops asap.
