In your estimation, is 10NL real poker?

I am currently building a roll and I have started once again at 10NL. The question that I have is 10NL real poker? What I mean by this is, will I see players limp/call a 5-7x BB raise from the early position? Will I see players move all in on a suited and coordinated board with one pair often?

I kill the live 1/2 NL games in Atlantic City but I am darned if I am able to beat this micro crap in order to move up with a proper roll!

PS I am in dire need of a poker buddy who is a winning micro stakes player who is willing to assist me in my journey.

My AIM is gladi8tor333

you gotta be kidding! 1/2 NL live is softer than 10NL? That doesn't make me feel so good right now. This is flat out nuts. I doubled my roll in a week and in 4 days lost like ten buy ins to suxouts, misreads and blah blah blah.

I saw this kind of thing all day on Sunday at a 2/3 NL game in my local B&M cardroom. And that was real poker, at least the $200 I won was pretty real.

My favorite in this $300 effective stack game was when there were 5 limpers to BB who raised to $20, got 4 callers, the flop was 67Kr, BB bet $75, and an old man in LP called. The turn was a 5x. BB goes all in, and the old man calls. The river is a Tx. The BB says "nice call, sir, I had nothing," showing AQo. The old man shows 45o as he rakes in the $600 pot with a pair of fives, and says, "I had an open ended straight draw on the flop...what else could I do?" And the old guy was serious.

So, is your game real poker? Yes, it is.

I'm with bottomset on this one. From what I've played, $1/$2NL at The Borgata in AC and Casino Rama near Toronto are in the same ballpark as $10NL at Stars. Foxwoods $1/$2NL def plays significantly worse.

Yeah, I really, really hate when players do this too.

Wait. WTF? No!

Nobody limps at 10nl, its the standard 4x bb raise + 1bb per limper...
On the weekend, its a different story

Of course it's real poker. You exploit your opponents tendencies to your benefit. How do you exploit people who limp/call to much with trash? hmmmm.

Microstakes poker is poker but i tend to play it alot weaker than i would play online $100-$200nl. I find playing a 16/13 style a leak at $5nl because you get called down so light that blind stealing and cbetting with air rarely works. I tend to play around 12/4 at <$10 fwiw.

I've been doing a microstakes bankroll challenge for a while now, "longer than i should have done through lack of motivation" and i'm going to be moving up aggressivly to reach supernova by the end of the year so if you want a chat about microstakes login the the frnl irc channel as i dont have aim.

@ above, while i respect what you did there, omfg move up to make moneys. (But good you are)

@ OP no it isnt poker. You arent given cards, nor chips, and thus is not poker.
