Bodog account hacked, wiped out, they say I owe them MORE!

As I described here , my Bodog account was hacked (the same computer logged into 5 different poker accounts), and my whole balance was lost, they deposited more money on my account with a credit card, and they lost that too.

Well I called up and they said something looked very fishy, they would get back to me. Well they just did.

As you have stated the credit card used was not your own, we have voided
the associated transaction(s). As per our Player Agreement, specifically
article 14a which states:

"A Player accepts all responsibility for any wager placed from Player's
confidential account whether placed by Player or not, provided the
correct Account Number and Password are received by Bodog. Specifically,
the Player accepts all responsibility for any transactions placed on
their Account by anyone else that received the confidential login
information from the Player, whether voluntarily or otherwise."

Due to the voiding of purchases, this has left your account in the
negative balance of $225 which we ask you kindly repurchase at your
convenience. Please understand, these funds were lost to legitimate
players on the poker tables, and out of respect to all players we cannot
offer refunds or deductions based on any losses incurred in your bodog
account.

In other words, they're too stupid to figure out the fraudulent activity, so not only was my whole account cleaned out, but they insist that I owe them for all the fraudulent deposits made on the account as well. Unfortunately I've got pending futures there, so I can't just write the site off and never play there again. I'm getting screwed however you look at it.

Avoid them.

Bodog support has always seemed great to me. I don't think you should go down without a fight here. Start calling (they generally pick up fast) and emailing to get to the bottom of this.

Yeah, I'm afraid that is the bottom of it. Spent 45 minutes on the phone with them while they initially investigated, then told me they'd get back to me when they reached a decision, and that was it. I've got an advocacy website contacting them on my behalf now--he's been very good at greasing the wheels in the past.

I wouldn't be too pissed, Beavis, except I have more than $225 in pending wagers (crockpot's MLB futures), so while I could give them a good "F--- you" and just write off the "debt," I definitely have more than $225 in equity in those wagers, so unless I get a decision changed the debt will be "paid."

What angers me the most is that they can say "unauthorized activity counts" when I lose money, but when someone makes an unauthorized deposit they're like "Woah! That's not yours, we're taking it back!" even though it wasn't a chargeback on the card AFAIK, they said "we took it away because you said it wasn't yours." Shouldn't they have checked the name on the credit card in the first place?

Why would someone deposit money to your account with their credit card? They are not getting the money back, right? Might be stolen too much seems so weird. gl with this, sir.

stolen CC too perhaps.
If they hacked his Bodog acct certainly they can hack/keylog someone else for a CC#.

But I still don't get this bit about people playing for 'real' (not chip-dumping to a friend's acct) after hacking into someone's account.

My hunch:
Perhaps they make their play appear 'mostly legit' and are happy to dump most of it away to everyone at the table while one or two of their dummy-accts or friends-accts get their fair share of the stolen dough.

They know the site needs to see that the losses have to appear to be legit.
Stealing $200 from someone's CC and getting $50 or $100 of that in their own or their friend's account would be a fine alternative for some people since they wouldn't get any money at all if the chip-dumping was detected and their only other options might be to play freerolls or to railbird and beg for $5.

of course, they can also play completely legitimately and then IF they win big they can chip-dump it all off to their regular or friend's acct.

This would explain how/why they would play 100% legitimately with stolen funds.

An interesting reason not to place wagers at the same site where you play poker.
