Step 5 hand

Step 5 on pokerstars. Buying is 700. Down to 3 handed. Top two move on and 3rd repeats

SB had been playing back at me agressively to both of our detriments earlier, but has calmed down as we get to 4 handed. BB has been pretty tight.

Sb has 7k. I have 4k. SB has 2k. Blinds are 150/300 with 25a. I am on the button with JJ. Shove or raise and fold to a shove from SB?

What range of hands should I be shoving/stealing(folding to shove) with?

Thanks,
Jason

you have two SBs in the hand.

more generally, if the shortstack SB pushes, and you are left to act you can only call or fold, and calling with JJ would be pretty self-evidently obvious move.

this is why hand histories are good.

Sorry. SB has 7k and BB has 2k.

I'd shove. You don't want to tempt the SB to move over the top again.

first off folding is out of the question.

you say SB has toned it down since 4-handed play started. has he repopped you at any point since then? if he hasn't, then raising and folding isn't terrible. i'd make it 2.5 in this case, but you do need to fold if he shoves.

shoving itself isn't bad, but if SB's reshoving range is very small then simply raise/fold is better. for a good player i'd imagine he'd reshove a wide variety, so i would just shove. since you said SB has toned it down though, i might consider raising and folding to a shove from SB. it really just depends on what you estimate he resteal range as, or whether you think he's aware of the $ bubble

Since the first and second pay the same there is no reason to believe sb is going to make a move. His stack seems safe now and it's in his best interest to let you and the small stack fight it out. That having said I prefer raising and folding to a sb shove. He will hardly ever come over the top with a worse hand, maybe TT or AK.
