Dark hairs - shaving questions

I'm a 23 year old white dude with dark hair all over my body. I used to shave my body when I was around 16, but gave it up to fit in (well, and I just got lazy). Since I hadn't shaved in many years, I had jungle fever all over my body (chest, tummy, legs, back, neck, shoulders, etc). The past few days I've started to shave my body again and would like some advice and tips.

Every day I try to shave off or trim at least one part of my body. For instance, the first day, while in the shower I shaved the front of my legs above the knees only. The next day I shaved from my belly button down to my pelvis and went over my legs again.

I recently purchased Phillips Body Groomer for men (they have a hilarious website too BTW - http://www.shaveeverywhere.com ), but don't know what else I can do to make shaving all this hair easier. My plan at the moment is to trim my forests with the Body Trimmer, shave with razors, and then touch up with the Body Trimmer again. It's been four days now of shaving and I have about half my body shaved. I know once I clear all the forestry shaving will be much easier (as long as I keep up with the maintainence).

I don't have much money at the moment, so I can't afford laser removal, but I'm considering doing it for my back hair at least sometime in the future. I'm not thrilled with the idea of waxing, but I'd do it if it's necessary or makes things A LOT easier.

So... any tips on shaving the beastly hair, any product recommendations, any tips on avoiding the red bumps, eliminating stubbles, general advice, etc?

TL;DR version: I want tips on shaving my beastly man hairs all over my body.

i think you're just wasting your time buddy. it's gonna be a pain to maintain; your laziness will win in the end.
also: improper use of jungle fever

There are some new versions of Nair out that work pretty well sans chemical burn.

There are many men out there who do keep up with the maintainence. So far I'm doing well and my lady friends encourage me to keep it up. And I bang one of them.

Also, I disagree about "improper use", I just used the phrase in a different way than typical use.

Would be a good idea if the smell of burnt hair wasn't so appalling.

Ha Ha, there was a guy that I used to work with who did this. He was a van driver for a rafting company. Only problem was that he'd walk around without a shirt on because it was hot. So we got to see a shaved chest but hairy back and shoulders. Then shaved shoulders but a hairy back and stubble on his chest. Then a shaved back but slightly hairy chest and stubbled shoulders.

We used to call him The Hyena.

Shaving is the least effective way of maintaining a hair-free body (only lasts 1-2 weeks, if you're lucky). I'd recomment waxing (lasts 3-4 weeks), or if you can afford it, lazing it off (5-6 weeks).

You might want to watch referring to your abdominal area as your "tummy". Only chicks and small children are permitted to use this very effiminate term.

Re: Dark hairs - shaving questions

I'm researching the costs involved with laser hair removal. Everywhere I go says it's dependent on the region of the world you get it done as well as the areas of the body you treat with it.

From
http://www.hairremovaljournal.org/removalcosts.htm :

AREA / COST PER TREATMENT
---------------------------
Bikini - $350 to $500
Back Hair - $600 to $900
Lower Legs - $600 to $850
Upper Legs - $600 to $850
Arms - $350 to $500
Chest - $350 to $600
Under Arms - $250 to $350
Face & Neck - $600 to $900

"For many patients, three treatments may be enough to provide hair removal for many months."

So it would cost at least $2500 to remove most of the back hair permanently. Damn that's steep!

I'm really surprised no one else here tries to keep their body shaved. I was hoping for at least a few to give some suggestions on what they did.

Damn, I wish shaving could even last a week for me!

I'm looking into waxing and depilitory products (like Nair) at the moment. Apparently I can get a full body waxing done for about $150 and it takes about 3 hours. I've never waxed before, so I'm not going to start with a full body wax. Maybe I'll just get my back waxed and decide from there.

Ok Ill give u a serious answer. I use to suffer from a similar problem. I am of Mediterranean decent so naturally quite hairy but nothing extreme. I find that buying a beard trimmer and just doing an all over body trim once every 3-4 weeks keeps everything neat.

To me shaving is a terrible idea because razor burn sucks, and the stubble on your legs and chest just look and feel stupid. Plus real men have to have some hair.

Only swimmers and body builders should shave their body IMO (referring to men that is)

I use a level 2-3 barber clippers.

BTW that video in the OP is awesome!!

Look around the site's main menu for more great clips.

I'm more on the effeminate side I guess cuz I don't like feeling hairy. I feel much more comfortable all over when I'm clean shaven. To each their own...

I don't get it...the website says it shaves everywhere, but it is so small, I don't see how it could reach every part of your back.

I have never had a girl complain about my hairyness, infact in this day of metrosexuality everywhere some girls actually like to run their hands down my hairy chest. Same with trimming pubic hair, I clipper my nuts and a little trim, but I like to keep the curls up top. [censored] them they're only women they'll get used to it.

yeah same with me, never had any complaints and no troubles with women. i have a very hairy chest, along with shoulders, back, basically i am an ape.

You're right, the "body groomer" doesn't have an extended reach like that flexable one Noah posted on the 1st page. It can't reach everywhere.

About the women... I'm doing this for myself first and foremost. I like how I look and feel better this way and I'm not doing it for some fashion reason. Women will put up with guys hairy chests, I agree, but many women find hairless guys to be more attractive.

i actually own that extendable back thing and it works well. i clean things up once in a while, for myself.

you say that many women find hairless guys more attractive which certainly may be true. but i could say many women find hairy guys more attractive.

all i know is that when i shave my chest and stomach after it grows in, visually its like losing ten pounds.

Re: Dark hairs - shaving questions

I now have all of my front shaved and my calves. I have to make a decision with what to do about my back. I'm really thinking about giving waxing a try for it, even though I know it's going to hurt like a bitch! I'll have it done at a professional salon to make sure it's done right.

The people waxing you certainly have an unusual job. What, with the people screaming obscenities out in pain everytime you remove the wax. But you have to finish your job. They're just like "haha! scream all you want! you're not going anywhere yet!"

Also, I'm glad it has become more acceptable for guys to look more effeminate. One of the biggest reasons I put off going back to shaving after all these years was because I didn't want to be thought of as less of a man or queer or whatever. I've come to the point where I've finally accepted that I should stick by what I feel is right and stop trying to fake liking what I don't, even if it means I'll get weird looks or insulted.

What's more likely, a girl complaining you have too little hair down there, or a girl complaining you have too much hair down there? What's more likely to interfere with her going down on you?

yea, we're gonna take the advice of a guy that describes himself basically as a woolly mammoth, covered in hair from head to toe and chooses the "front of his legs above the knee" as the top priority for hair removal.

Re: Dark hairs - shaving questions

I didn't mean to suggest I was like a wooly mammoth. I was hairier than most of my friends, and my hair is quite dark. And I didn't feel like mentioning me shaving my pubes, which I trimmed before my first below the neck shaving, and then shaved during that first session.

My comment about women preferring to go down on guys with trimmed or shaved pubes still stands, no matter what you think of me.
