Dual Monitor Setup with a laptop (Not addressed in FAQ)
 

I have a Dell Inspiron 9300. I just got a Dell 2007 FP. I can't seem to get a dual monitor set up to work for some reason. I get the same thing on both screens.

I figured this was fine to post because the FAQ addresses using a monitor as a second monitor provided you already have a desktop.

try this:

right click on desktop; click on settings; click on the secondary monitor in the little picture, a click on the checkbox "extend windows desktop onto monitor"
