Monitor Resolution Problem

I just got the Dell 3007 Monitor for my new computer (HP Pavillion). I have a NVIDIA GForce 7500 LE video card for the monitor. Naturally, when I got the monitor hooked up, I wanted to see how many tables I could fit on the screen. However, I realized the resolution was too low. When I tried to put the resolution at 2048 x 1536, the monitor stopped showing images and basically went on the fritz only showing pixilated lines. The max resolution I can get is 1280 x 800 which doesn't seem right.

Any ideas about what is going on? Any ideas on how to fix this problem and get the max resolution for this monitor?

Thanks!

Does your card support Dual-Link DVI (not the same as two DVI plugs!)?

I have no idea although I am trying to figure this out right now. Would not having dual-link hinder the resolution all the way down to 1280 x 768?

no, probably 1600x1200 or 1920x1200 or so. do you have the monitor drivers installed?
