Hero?

Ever since moving up to 22s, I find myself losing chips in midgame situations like this where the blinds aren't quite high enough for me to go into push/fold mode, but a failed blind steal can hurt me. I guess I have two questions here. Should I have just pushed pf? What if villain and I each had say, 500 extra chips? Villain is 28/13. As played, should I c-bet the flop?

i think u can push there. if u are just going to raise, maybe try 2.5x. and then a small cbet

Villain is 28/13. Those people love to see the flop .
He doesnt think in equity loss by calling a 3BB raise PF for future levels. If the sample size is big enough to believe in 28/13 I thin is a push ( the only way for a 28/13 to fold) .
If he call , we are not too bad with AT.
BTW what is the range of call for a player with that stats ( 30% would be too loose?) against that we are 58/42 favorite .

I would say somewhere between 20-25% call range, not entirely sure though.

Shoving pre is definitely +EV if you're worried about not playing well postflop.

I think PA HUD can really help in this situation. If you see something a bit goofy on his stats - like he is just as likely to limp as call a PFR (say around 30%+) and that he folds 2/3 of flops to a bet, then at this stage you can just limp PF most times and fire out a single bet with most hands. You are going to be investing 150 chips to win 150 66% of the time.

In this situation, if you bet say 1/2 the pot, then you have invested 600 chips to win 350 66% of the time.

Of course I wouldn't recommend limping in the SB as a regular thing it is just that I see many players in the BB call a raise with marginal hands. It is like they have decided 'in for a penny, in for a pound'.

I think that most people will disagree with these ideas, however doing this against the right opponents with the right stack sizes has removed allot of the volatility from my mid game when I am confronted by situations like this.
