Leaving for New Orleans tomorrow- whats the poker situation?

I'm an OK middle limit hold em player (.66 BB/hr over about 200 hours-- which I know is not enough time to REALLY know if I'm decent or not!) who's very used to the conditions & level of play in AC. In fact, besides a little messing around online, Taj & Borgota are the only places I've played. Anyone know what games they're spreading in NO and what the general level of play is there? How does it compare to AC?

Any information would be appreciated. Thanks.

Thanks for the reponses (sort of). Just FYI- the game is, as has been said, nowhere near an AC game. They seem to consider 3/6 a BIG game but its pretty weak & passive and IMHO appears to be, rake and toke considered, unbeatable in the long term.

And to you sir- not sure what you mean, but clearly you"re a bizarre little man, troubled by either bruxism, torus or some unholy combination of both.

ATC, Harrah's has the biggest casino in New Orleans proper with the largest poker room. Unfortunately, it only spreads 3/6 limit and 1/2 and 2/5 NL with regularity. Sometimes there is 5/10 NL and 15/30 Omaha.

The best poker option nearby seems to be the Beau Rivage in the Mississippi Gulf Coast. When I was there last fall, they spread a 10/20 limit game and it seemed like it was going to be a regular game. They also had 4/8 limit IIRC, and we even played some 20/40 limit for a while (though I don't think this runs regularly).

As far as the quality of play, it is pretty weak and the games can probably be beaten despite the pretty bad rake structures. At Harrah's the rake is capped at $5 plus there is a $1 BBJ toke for limit games and a $6/half hour time charge for NL. I believe the Beau Rivage limit rake was maxed at $4 plus a $1 BBJ toke.

Hope that helps, and enjoy New Orleans. Any money spent in the Crescent City is greatly appreciated.

It is a well known fact that clenching little rats eat cheese, fail to see obvious straights on the board and wear sneakers whose stench could eliminate the Iraqi insurgents in one fell swoop.
