i am signing up to full tilt for the first time.
there is an optional box for a referral bonus.

presumed it was a refer a friend one.

whats the story with getting rakeback on the site?

I don't think you can get the "refer a friend" bonus one and the rakeback.

So I suggest you get Rakeback. What you do is find a rakeback provider - see rakeback forum - and then sign up through their site- i.e. click the link to FullTitPoker on the rakeback site (and follow their instructions, like ceaning out cookies and stuff)

You will get the first time deposit bonus on top of the rakeback deal.
