very early in the match, so no reads. what the hell do we put him on? his donkbet made me but him on the ace or king of diamonds, but his 3bet made me bang my head against the wall. lines that stupid tilt me, but might tilt me less if i understood them. thought people?

You did everything right .

In all likelihood , he may have a flush or something like Ad-9 or Ad-10 . A straight may be likely but it would be an unorthodox way of playing them .

Unorthodox, but not abnormal at this level.

I'd say this line represents one of two lines of thinking most of the time:

1. "oh crap, I have a huge hand!" (where huge hand could be any two pretty diamonds) "let me make a tiny bet so that he'll raise me. aha! he fell into my trap, i'll just make it a tiny bet bigger, 'extract' chips because i heard somebody on tv use that phrase"

2. "you shall fear the wrath of my minbet! you bastard, how could you not fold, let's see how you like another taste!" (this line can be taken with ATC, often with 3rd pair or an under pair)

I think for the purposes of this hand it's probably #1

do y'all think raising this minbet is standard or in any way justifiable against the standard $6 villain?

in my experience people who minbetdonk fold to a raise alot of the time. it always seems to be a small pair/ draw/ moment of idiocy (usually one of many). usually if they minbet i raise, then double barrel if they call, then triple barrel if they call again (assuming draws miss), and i have found this to be highly effective. i swear raising mindonks is standard. admittedly i havent played this low stakes in a while (my bankroll building has gone so so so badly zomfg bad beat city).

How does this tilt you man? You cant play POKER if you cannot let go of a nice looking hand that misses the flop. Get ready for this kind of action at higher limits where people will do that move with ATC (any two cards).

mx, its not the fact i had a good hand that missed, it was the fact the line they took was impossibley stupid. at higher limits there are fewer fish, so this is much less likely to happen. and i have played all the way up to the 400s :P super busto at the mo though [img]/images/graemlins/frown.gif[/img]
