Paris Dining questions

I'll be in Paris in mid September, most likely staying in Les Halles in 1er Arrondisement.

One night I would like to treat myself to a good dinner, in the €150 range. Near to the hotel is preferable.

I found Gerard Besson which has a Michelin star and a tasting menu for €125, which sounds perfect.

Does anyone have any experience there or other recommendations for something similar?

Also, one night I will probably like to play at Aviation Club, can someone recommend a more moderately priced bistro or brasserie close to ACP?

I can't really answer many of your questions, but you should probably look for a place that isn't close to the ACP/Champs-Elysees area--this area is very touristy and expensive.

With tip/wine/tax, your bill will be much more than 125.

I googled this: Best restaurants in Paris don't know if it will help.

Have fun!

Agree that wine will add more, but the tasting menu price includes tax and service (ah, the pleasures of all-in pricing). See the link.

Funny, I actually never knew that.. but the last time I was in Paris I was 16.

Says here that you should round the bill up (or leave a couple of E for a meal), or at a very nice restaurant add 5%.

I've never heard of a Parisian leaving anything more than the change at most. A 15% service charge is included in all meals in Paris.

I've never been to such expensive restaurant (student) but since you will be at the Halles you should try this restaurant there which do mostly meat and is excellent.

For you second request you will find a very good restaurant in the street close to the ACF 'rue Marboeuf' called 'L'Aubrac' where you can eat quite good 24/24.

Chillee,

Thanks for the recommendations. I was wondering if the Francophones might find this thread.

Thanks a lot for your Sticky on "where to play in France", too. I knew about Aviation Club, but now that I learned about Haussman (also close to Les Halles) I may want to stop by there, too.
