1/2 nl flopped trips: pot control, go broke, or standard?
 
3rd hand at the table, so no reads. Is this a situation where Villian usually has a better kicker or a set...or should I put more of an effort into getting it all in? This could also be completely uninteresting, I'm relatively new to 6 max nl (but I like it!)

Yes, a check could totally induce a bet from villain.. but I can't imagine him calling the C/R with anything you beat unless there's an expectation that you will be playing cleverly against him.

I think a bet on the river looks a lot better.
