Final table Full Tilt $9000 gtd. - A8

Final table - last 3 players - on the 9000gtd on FullTilt.
Play has been dominated by restealing moves on the final table, not much post flop play. Generally tight players.
Villain was playing tight, but after doubling up got aggressive somehow.
My image is tight, i've shown down good cards, but folded to restealers 3 or 4 times.

OK this is just nasty.

First - Congrats on this, Must have felt very good!

Now to the hand. I think we need to make the decision preflop. Are we behind a dominated ace or not. If we are highly likely behind a bigger ace, we fold this preflop. We tried our steal, it failed, alls well, we muck our ace trash. If we are still ahead of his range, I think we push preflop.

If I played as played, I fold here, Theres really no hand he three bets me with and then leads into me with on this flop that I am ahead of.

Thx 4Card,

His reraise preflop, where he gives me great odds convinced me he was playing a high PP, where he wanted me to call.
As I have the odds I thought I call and play aggressive if I find an ace on the flop.

Than I find that ace and he bets - I didn't think he had AA, but my biggest fear were KK,JJ of course. But as he a little tricky player, whom i sas slowplay before i saw this as a c-bet and pushed over his bet.

He insta-mucked - maybe he played QQ,TT?

This was the most difficult hand - and your analysis convinced me even more, that it would have been better to

1.) finish it preflop
2.) muck is postflop

1. ) Preflop might be a muck or a push. It's very read dependent
2.) Once you have come to the flop, you can't fold toppair 3-handed to a 1/2 potbet.

I either shove or fold PF. If villain is aggressive, I shove.
Once you call, there is no way out. You hit your top pair and you are getting insane odds. Also, if villain has anything on that scary flop, he should shove you all day long - betting less than a PSB is either the nuts (QT is very unlikely) or a "god I hate this flop, please fold"

I'd lead/Cbet here... and try to get to showdown cheaply if possible. Fold to aggression... no need to take a big hit to your stack when you don't need to... especially with the texture of that board.

You do know that we have position and it's the BB that has cbet already? Also, there is no way of getting to a showdown cheaply. If hero calls the flop, he has +50% of his stack in the pot. If we play that hand, it's not a question of IF we get our stack in, it's WHEN.
