25nl where I get called a nit

Ive got villian at 17/6/1 over 75 hands. I think I played it ok bet/fold seemed like the best way to get value from worse A's on the river. I just dont think im getting pushed on by worse although im open to other lines for the whole hand.

I dont like this play at all. Bet out on the flop. Why call the turn if you're gonna fold the river?

As played check/call the river. Like jamez said: why call his bet on the turn if you're folding a non-ace, non-queen river?

Preflop: without att to steal % i like the call

flop: pleeeaase c/r!!

turn: yea, wawb comes into effect from here on out

river: I think this is the worst part of your play, we show weakness the whole way through and now we make a weakish play at the pot...blah..

he's gonna make a desperate attempt to bluff this

or

he's going to raise for value cause he knows u have something

given the way you and him played it, it is a call IMO

p.s. I assume you're not throwing out the weak bet on the river to induce a raise as your hand is not that strong, right?

1. 3-bet PF - You have a hand that is ahead of most of villains range at this point and you are OOP. Not only does a 3-bet help you to narrow villain's range, it also (a) helps to let players know (over time) that you are capable of 3-betting hands other than AA KK QQ, and (b) gives you a chance to take down the pot PF and not have to play the pot OOP post flop.

2. C/R flop - Villain will likely C-bet anything on this flop, so the C/R allows you to rep the strength of your hand while keeping the pot size manageable. By flat calling here, you give an aggressive villain every reason to think you have a weak pair or draw.

3. As played, IMO your best line from the turn onwards is to C/C both turn and river. Nothing you have done up to this point has helped to give you any info on villain's hand and thus, given that you may well be behind, you should be trying to keep the pot as small as possible so that you can get to a showdown without having to either fold or go allin.

All this is just IMHO, but i think this approach will make your decisions a lot easier.

Re: 25nl where I get called a nit

I figured I could bet fold the river based the villains very low aggression factor. It seems like someone like that is much more likely to just call with a hand like KK/QQ/AT or whatever. C/c could be better or if I am gonna b/f I guess mb $9 is a better number. As for flop I vary between a lead c/r and c/c. I guess c/c puts me in a awkward spot for the rest of the hand.

Re: 25nl where I get called a nit

the only way you dont call is if hes not allin on river in which case you raise

Superman26gt 05-17-2007 09:44 PM

Re: 25nl where I get called a nit

b/f lines just really suck when you go against the flow of how the hand has been played out so far and you have questionable hand

edit: This may have been a great play, and the more I think about it, the more I like it given his af..

but wouldn't you want to c/c spending $5 more to see a sd, rather than risking saving $5 for a showdown and not being able to get information or a chance to win..?
