First Bet Ever

I've never bet sports in my life and don't know a whole lot about it other than betting the money line or betting the spread. What's the best close to even money bet in the next week? Also what are the standard limits you can bet? I want to bet about 5k on one team/fight whatever. I don't mind laying a little odds for a favorite and vice versa just as long as it's not 3-1 or something like that.

Why do you want to do this? Blackjack offers better odds.
If you are really desperate I really like Miami tomorrow but you'd be better off asking someone who bets sports.
