rate this resignation...

girl from school decided she had enough, and wrote this resignation today. she cc'd it to a couple people, myself included. most of the things she talks about are at least somewhat true. charter school, about 150 kids grades 1-10..

fwiw, above-average attractive 32ish-year old blonde. married, husband's rich, so she's somewhat spoiled (driving an '07 escalade), and told me she only took this job 'to get out of the house', as they adopted two children under 1 year old from central america somewhere...

and yes, it's probably too long to hold some of your attention, if that = you, skip it.

i figure it one of the better written [censored]-you's i've ever read..

I am writing to submit my resignation. I will not be there on Monday. I am
no longer able to continue due to the atmosphere and overwhelming additional
duties. I was not made aware of these when I was hired.

Yes, I am sure that they were outlined in the job description, but I was not
informed that it was a 50-60 hour per week job. As the duties have been, week
after week, heaped upon me with the like it or lump it attitude, I guess I am
opting for the ladder.

While it is not fair to the students or my team, I have to put my own family
first at this time. However, please know that I did give 110%. I believed in
the school. I even missed the birth of my nephew and my son’s first morning
of kindergarten without hesitation for the job of teacher at Summit.

Of course teacher’s always take work home. But, it is grading or working on
lessons to help their students, not perform administrative work that takes
hours each night to complete. We have/had students to teach during the day
and I am certain the parents would want this to be our focus.

Also, it is a shame that adult professionals, some with master’s degrees and
impressive backgrounds, are given so little respect. Instead of being helped,
teachers are scrutinized. Never in my almost ten years of teaching did I ever
receive anything but a positive review. I have always been professional as
you must have discovered in your hiring process.

I have always respected my peers and administrators, but never had to question
if it was being reciprocated. I can without a doubt say that is not the case
in this situation. The disrespect to staff that I have seen in my short time
at Summit in Warren is shocking. And who would threaten to remove a teacher’s
desk? When do you think we actually have time to sit down anyway?

I am sincerely sorry for the inconvenience that this will create for my fellow
junior high teachers and the other members of the staff who were very kind.
They are amazing people and deserve the best. I am sending them a copy of
this because they are professional adults who should be treated as such.
Shouldn’t they and the parents of the students be consulted instead of
insulted?

This is truly out of character for me. But, I guess I have never been put in
such a situation. I have a feeling I am not the first to feel this way, which
is a loss for the students and the parents of this community.

I have put my keys and key card in the mail.

nice. I love reading the e-mails of people quitting big law firms and they just cc everyone and let it all out.

i would have liked more sarcasm and specifics here though, too sanitized.

sounds like she is a whiny biatch who really doesn't want to work.

she also needs to take some writing classes. hopefully she teaches 1st or 2nd grade.

there's also an apostrope in there (teacher's) that shouldn't be, and she is/was an english teacher..

as to the 'waaahh' comment, yes, partly, but all that wasn't made up out of thin air..
