Does evidence of Intelligent ET life disprove Christianity?

I am a christian, and after reading about the Chicago UFO story, it got me thinking about this question. On one hand, I could see how it would, yet on the other hand, I could see how it wouldn't. Your thoughts are appreciated.

found an interesting documentary that I'm listening to right now ... probably belongs in a different thread though.

I can't see how it would.

I think the lack of information about AIDS in the Bible is enough to show that the God decided some things we could figure out on our own, right?

I mean, it seems like a pretty gigantic thing to leave out, but is it explicit in the Bible that the Earth is the only planet with life? I'm sure its implied, simply because no one who wrote the Bible could have imagined that we even lived on a 'planet,' but it would have to be extremely explicitly mentioned in order for this to sway any true Christians.

the thing is, if you examine the reason why humans were created, it seems strange why God would also create ET life as well.

Why were humans created?

The Jesus story (with its original sin component) is utterly absurd if aliens exist. I'll let the honest Christians elaborate.

I think a lot of Christians would be disturbed by it since historically the church's position was that all life was created by God with us as his favored creation. (The Earth Centered universe was a religious theory and, as you may recall, suggesting that the Earth centered around the sun was considered heresy). So, I think with this type of thinking, the existence of extra terrestrials would certainly butt against some classical christian ideas.

But, the existence of UFOs certainly doesn't have to mean anything one way or another about the existence of an 'all powerful creator.'

Reminds me of an SF story I read once...it starts in the middle of the Adam and Eve story, but sometime after they refused to be ejected from the garden for obtaining knowledge of good and evil. It ends when God appears and implies that he's done this hundreds of times before, and this was the first time he ended up with a species worthy of his image instead of spineless grovelers. I wish I could remember what it was called.

For me, proven and significantly different extraterrestrial life nixes my last tiny hope of any God. It has to be clearly of some chemistry that is utterly different, no possible connection. If they have anything like DNA then....I dunno.
