I was not sure what to do in this hand. I had no stats on villain; so decided to just call the flop RE-raise and RE-valuate turn; When he bet so small I was forced to call.

Just fold the flop. You've bet and been told where you are. If he's bluffraising, wp, but you're OOP and you can't fade two more streets of betting just to find out.

yeah unless it's a hu table at stakes where you're expecting people to regularly take shots at paired boards I think you need to let this go once you've decided to bet the flop. against more aggressive opponents, you can take a card here and try to make him showdown a winner, although this starts to be a pretty transparent play after a while.
