First time at brick and mortar casino...

I played my first casino the other night, and the only had cash games of hold em (I usually do tourneys). The table was $2/$4, but the SB was $1 and the BB
was $5. What's the deal with that? Doesn't "$2/$4" mean that the SB is $2 and the BB is $4?

2/4 (assuming it was a limit game) generally means the small blind is 1 and the big blind is 2.

The 2 is the bet size during the first two rounds. the 4 is the bet/raise size after the turn and river.

I have no clue what the 5 was for.

Don't do 'shrooms before playing poker live.

Or, do more.

Well, actually my brain just started to work.

If you just passed by the table and looked, the big blind may not have had 2 - $1 chips and put out a $5 chip. The dealer will give him his change when the action is on him (or after the pot is pulled in).
